Lost potential .
The potential was great, the execution not so. It would have been improved with a batman gothic style abs maybe some of the turmoil of falling in love, having kids and watching then grow old and die when your immortal. Otherwise it's just a real miss

Odd gothic thriller
The last part was the best part of this entire novel. Incredibly slow to start and for a very long time the religious subplot seemed pointless. There's also a lot of holes in the story like what happened to the baby's mother? Feel like it's been overhyped.

Depp at his peak powers in this horror fable, the surroundings and gothic visuals get a special mention as they are very much Tim Burton's trademark.
Its an exposition heavy murder mystery that has great character actors and is quite comical.
Very entertaining and thoroughly enjoyable adaptation of Irving's novel.
