"This album could be racked under 'sunshine pop' or 'pop psych'. My idea of what makes good psychedelic music isn't a fixed thing – it's about the feeling you get from a record. In direct relation to my work, I think psychedelia is about creating another reality. I work from pure imagination and records that create their own spaces are hugely appealing to me. The Aphrodite's Child album does that and this Sagittarius record does it too. They are records that really suck you into their own worlds. Present Tense takes you to paradise, it makes you want to jump into the speakers and fully experience the place that they've imagined for the listener. Growing up on the Beach Boys, I was familiar with the kind of sound on the record. It's very gentle, very orchestral, soft and lush; it offers a place to escape to from the real world. You can check in whenever you want to put the record on. In a way, the music we make as Seahawks tries to do the same thing – it's trying to conjure up a glorious utopia in a world that's clearly gone to shit!"

Rebel Without a Cause (1955)
Rebel Without a Cause (1955)
1955 | Classics, Drama

"Last but not least, man, will be a classic that really holds up and it’s not a comedy. I don’t want to end this on a neutral or serious note, but Rebel Without a Cause, man. I really, really dig that movie. I really dig that movie and I really dig James Dean. I dig what he was about. I’ve watched interviews and movies about him and stuff, and I just dig him as an artist and I really think that that captures… It’s a coming-of-age story, too, but it’s not the ones that we’re used to — that we’re going to laugh at and feel like, “Oh, they won out.” He’s coming from a very dark place as a teenager, which we all go through. I’m sure a lot of us haven’t been in the darkness as long as his character has, but we get how that feels and it’s kind of cool to see him simmering in that emotion. It’s not anticipated at all, so it’s really seamless. It’s really nice to see. You kind of see him growing up in, like, the scrappiest version it can look like."

I'm not the biggest fan of Friends to walk the earth, but I watched it enough growing up in the 90s for it to mean something to me in some capacity. This reunion is a mixed bag - on the one hand, it has a whole load of legitimately touching moments. I genuinely think the main cast enjoyed being in each others company again, and it does a good job at diving behind the scenes in its 100 minute runtime.
However, it doesn't go far enough. It threatens to really get into the nitty gritty on several occasions, but pulls back. It feels cut up to the point where I think that, considering just how beloved Friends is, the reunion would have been better suited to a limited series, where it could have been the ultimate celebration with all the main players involved.
If nothing more, The Reunion is a fun throwback to arguably the most popular comedy show to ever air, and is undoubtedly a nostalgic treat for fans of Friends, and they're the people who this is for. Matt Le Blanc is a treasure.

STRONG ADDITION TO THE ROCKY/CREED FRANCHISE
The story arc of every returning character was great and well developed I mean I was kinda expecting Rocky to die but I'm also ok with where he ended up story-wise. "D" Creed developed in the right ways too. He grew in directions he needed to and he struggled and failed in the way he needed to, to win. Also, I've seen a lot of people, complaining about the Dragos and their story in this film. I loved it and personally would love either a stand-alone Drago movie or for them to become more involved in a possible follow up in the growing Creed franchise. Most of the emotion in this film came from the Dragos and they hardly spoke but you could read the story they were writing with their expressions which is beautiful and says a lot of the skill of acting by those two. I thoroughly enjoyed this film, literally everything, the story, the music, the fights, and the acting. I highly recommend this film and am disappointed in my self of how long it took me to watch it but am glad I did.

Strangler in the Village
Poppy Redfern is the new air-raid warden for her village in England in 1942. This has become an important job since an American Air Force base as recently moved into the area. Some of the young women have started dating Americans, but when two of them turn up dead, it sets up a divide in the village. Even though an American has been arrested for the murders, Poppy doesn’t think he is guilty. She sets out with one of the American pilots to figure out what really happened. But has she just made herself a target?

I’ve been trying to read more historical mysteries this year, and this one was already sitting on my shelf. The author clearly did her research as the details of life at the time came to life. Unfortunately, they tended to overshadow the plot, so the pacing was uneven. Poppy was an interesting main character, and I can easily see her growing as the series continues, but much of the rest of the cast never really came alive for me. While the book wasn’t bad, it wasn’t as good as I hoped it would be.
