The second in the broken empire trilogy continues from where the "prince..." left off. Jorg is now King of Renar having successfully taken over rule from his naughty uncle.
In this book we see Jorg seemingy become more regal, less of a renegade loose canon, though this turns out not to be through his choice.
Similar to the first book, the story line is split between the "present", 4 years after the events of the Prince of Thorns and a separate timeline following immediately from the first book. The way these are woven together allows a good rate of reveals of key events and information along the way, while also leaving enough mystery behind for later.
The plot follows Jorg on his wedding day trying to defend his land from the would-be emperor, the prince of Arrow, and also in the past on a tour of the outlying countries trying to solve various problems.
The post-apocalyptic element hinted at in the first book is further explored here, but not in a way to detract from the important points of the story.
Overall this is an excellent follow-up with top-notch storytelling and engaging action, with the prince/king we love to hate and hate to hate.

Hoo boy. I went into this book expecting to hate it. It's teen fiction, which can be okay, and I knew from the blurbs on the front cover and back that it was probably not a happy ending. I hate books like that, especially LGBT-themed books aimed at that audience. BUT!

This is the first book to make me cry in ages. I'm not a crier by nature. There's something very effective and hard-hitting about Mittlefehldt's style. It's spare and haunting and leaves a lot of room to read between the lines. It reminded me a lot of books I had to read growing up like Bridge to Terebithia and Where the Red Fern Grows. You have the vague notion that something is going to go wrong, but it still takes your breath away when it does.

It Looks Like This is a story about small towns, religion, young love, and tragedy. In many ways, it has universal appeal: we all remember our first love and how gut-wrenching it is when it's over. But it also describes a story that many queer people know very well: what it feels like to know that this will always be harder for you than the people who "hate the sin but love the sinner."

Now a film starring Lucy Hale and Austin Stowell, globally bestselling author Sally Thorne's hilarious workplace comedy is all about the fine line between love and hate.

Lucy Hutton and Joshua Templeman sit across from each other every day . . . and they hate each other.

Not dislike. Not begrudgingly tolerate. HATE. Lucy can't understand Joshua's joyless, uptight approach to his job and refusal to smile. Joshua is clearly baffled by Lucy's overly bright clothes, quirkiness, and desire to be liked.

Now they're up for the same promotion and Lucy, usually a determined people-pleaser, has had enough: it's time to take him down. But as the tension between Lucy and Joshua reaches its boiling point, it's clear that the real battle has only just begun . . .

I can’t even try! The only reason I continued was because I had already DNFd 2 books this month. I don’t trash books as we all like different things but my hod my brain was numb! It should not have taken me this long to read a basic book. I’m so sorry to anyone who finds this not to their liking but I’m glad it’s over!

Love movies, hate people who talk through them!
Sci-fi, horror (especially bad horror), animation, action/comedy, not a lover of rom coms.
Love reading horror/sci-fi. In fact, I don't read any other genre. Like tatts and ale. Oh, and jelly beans.

Good
The book is my least favorite in the series. I actually started with Chamber of Secrets and came back to this one after I finished the first few books.
It's not terrible, and I would recommend it, because it gets better as the book goes on. The characters are likable, even the ones you love to hate.

I hate that this is the last book in the series. The entire series is so well written & so easy to lose yourself in! The last installment was no exception. This series is a marvelous addition to the world of middle grades books. Chris Colfer is an amazingly talented human being! I for one sure hope he writes more books!

Childhood Favourite
If I saw a film like this now I'd probably hate it. But there's something nostalgic about Dumb and Dumber and I just can't help but love it. This was one of my favourites as a child, and despite the fact that it is pretty childish, even now I think it's hilarious. It's just a shame the sequel was awful.

It felt as though I was watching two seperate films at the same time (0 more)
As much as I love Marvel and Dc films, this was a let down in my opinion. The editing was choppy and the music was very stereotypical for each scene. As much as I don't hate this movie, I am not one to go raving about it.
