Claire (89 KP) rated Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) in Movies

This film is HILARIOUS!!
I swear i was so ready to hate this. Im not a fan of jack black or The Rock, but the kids wanted to see it and I’m a huge Dr Who fan so gave it a go in support of Karen Gillan.
I was proved so wrong!! I dont want to give away anything but it is just so funny! A modern take on a classic movie with loads if genuine LOL moments ??

I am a huge fan of the original Jumanji movie and was sure I was going to hate this new version. I was wrong. Rather than remaking the '95 version, the writers chose to update it. Very smart. Yes, a lot of it is silly but that adds to the movie's charm. All the actors did a good job of getting into character but in my opinion, Jack Black does the best job of disappearing into his role. That's just something you'll have to see for yourself!

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Wow, a version of Peter Pan where I didn't hate Peter? Sign me up!
This adaption was an absolute joy to read. I loved Wendy and the interactions with her crew and her terrible parents. I adored the Lost Boys.
I loved the way that Hooke's villainy was framed.
And the Shadow? YES!
This book was a joy to read and I would absolutely recommend it!

There are multiple trigger warnings for book. Sexual assault of a minor, gun violence, violence against women, white supremacists (racial slurs). This book covers extremely heavy topics but I loved all of it. It is not Ellen Hopkins typical style throughout the whole book I feel how it was done was much needed to put context to this book. There will be characters you relate to, those you hate but in the end it gives multiple perspectives on heavy topics I feel it was covered well.

Oddball Comedy Horror
A rather oddball Comedy Horror Polish film on Netflix. Definitely not a horror in the sense of a Slasher film. Detectives arrive the at a house the morning after a New Year's Eve party to find nearly everyone dead. Then we get taken back to the start of the party. Funny in some places, but just really over the top, silly film. Something different but not necessarily all good. Most will probably love it or hate it.

Solid Meh
I didn't hate this film, I just don't love it. Definitely just one to have on in the background while doing something else. I wasn't invested in the characters at all. I think the best part was honestly Sylvester Stallone and Stephen Baldwin in the siblings group. They bade me laugh the most. I feel like this was a very classic roll for Vince Vaughn. Not a bad thing, just very him, if that makes sense.
I doubt I'll ever watch this film again.
