Haunting
Chelsea Wolfe is a bit like Marmite, you either get it or hate hate her and if you get her you love her.
Abyss is incredible. Imagine if PJ Harvey listened to NIN and Neurosis or Godflesh. This is incredibly haunting music, the type of thing you don't just listen to but have to let it wash over you as well. Industrial soundscapes with Wolfe's bleak melodies over the top makes this not upbeat but a reflection of some inner darkness. I can't get enough of this album and it's soundscapes which would work as songs on their own or as part of a movie soundtrack such us the atmosphere they produce.

The one word that comes to mind through all these stories is haunting, which brings it all back to the two statements at the beginning of the book. Based on that, I will be adding The Sympathizer to my reading list.

A Ghost Story is an excellent movie. It’s haunting, gripping and perhaps, even creepier than you can possibly imagine. The way the film is shot will keep you focused on it throughout.

i love tana french. she's a wonderful author and she's only getting better.
Faithful Place got to me in a way that In the Woods and The Likeness didn't. they were both compelling and great but this... this was something special. haunting, personal, painful and with a smattering of dysfunctional.
