Where to start? First let me say that this book is probably only going to resonate with a certain audience. The author, Amy MacKinnon, explores some dark subjects but manages to do it in a beautiful way. The book follows a main character, Clara Marsh, who works as a mortician in a funeral home and struggles with events in her past. These events are brought to light through flashback chapters that don't distract from the main plot of the story. It is a thrilling read that will have you hanging onto every word as Clara deals with past abuse and loss and the struggle to help a young girl who keeps making appearances in her life. This beaitifully haunting crime novel is definetely worth the read for anyone who enjoys the thrill of a good mystery and suspense filled novel.

Amazing Whirlwind Ride From Start to End

This is one of the most honestly thrill seeking adaptations I have seen for a long time. I am a big lover of original novel based stories and when these stories are made into on screen adaptations, it is easy for things to go terribly wrong and the story to become lost within flashy CGI ect. This is one of the best TV shows I have watched for a long time, to be honest I binged watch it within 3 days. The crew and cast of 'The Haunting of Hill House' created a modern day masterpiece whilst staying true to the original paper back.

Seen by some as an 80s Godfather light, this masterpiece of storytelling stands very much on its own two feet. There is a melancholy and nostalgia that make you care about the characters in ways many crime films don’t achieve. Led by one of the best cinema scores there has surely ever been. Ennio Morricone’s haunting melodies stay with you for life, evoking in turns the spirit of childhood, the regret of old age, and the ache for love and happiness that ultimately evades every one of them. Moments of laughter and glory turn to brutality, betrayal and bitterness, leading to an ambiguous end that breaks the heart. The look and feel of New York, captured with immense care in every shot, is a character in and of itself. An extraordinary allegory of what we were, what we dreamed we’d be and what we actually became.
