To All The Boys I've Loved Before (2018)
To All The Boys I've Loved Before (2018)
2018 | Drama, Romance
I am genuinely surprised at how much I love this movie. Normally, I am a firm advocate for film adaptations sticking to the book and if they don't, I find myself getting really upset (Dumplin' is a great example of this), but I thoroughly love this movie. The changes that were made are ones that I love. I don't mind it not sticking to it entirely because the general feel of the story is still there. I get the same feeling watching the move that I got reading the book and I think that's most important.

Additionally, this cast is incredible. I love Lana Conder, I think she's incredible. I love almost everything Noah Centineo is in and he's the exact guy that I imagined for Peter. (Same with Lana and Lara Jean). I think that they have great chemistry and I'm excited to see how that plays out even further when the next movie comes out in February.

I really love this series. I know some people don't, I'm not sure why honestly, but I love it and I definitely see myself watching these movies every now and again when I just need a good, heartwarming love story.

One of my closest friends and fellow movie nerds has been pushing me to watch this movie for MONTHS, and I am so ashamed that it took me this long to get to it. Literally this film is perfect. I don't know what else to say. It's funny, it's heartwarming, I CRIED (???), and I want to watch it all over again even though I just finished it.

I love that Taylor Swift is a prominent theme throughout this film and that 'Shake It Off' is an anthem for them. This cast is beautiful, but Josh Gad is a star. I mean, he's always been a star. Duh, he's Josh Gad. BUT this film? He's a fricking STAR! He is hilarious and the most fun part is that it's hard not to hear Olaf and LeFou cussing when his character is. I really feel that adds an extra layer of hilariousness.

I loved this film and I cannot recommend it enough. If you haven't watched it, you're missing out.

Surprise Treat
A couple looking to foster a teenager end up taking on an entire family of three. Instant Family will give you laughs, tears, and, most importantly, insight.

Acting: 10

Beginning: 4
The movie doesn’t exactly come out of the gates swinging. You’re meeting the couple for the first time and you see what their life is like pre-kids. I understand it’s necessary, but definitely not the most fun way to get started.

Characters: 10

Cinematography/Visuals: 9
I love how director Sean Anders decided to shoot the film. It’s not your average feel-good family movie. There is a real sense of struggle here, real pain, and Anders captures this in great pockets along with the more comedic moments of being a parent. Sometimes the fun and the pain are intermixed and it makes for some beautiful scenes.

Conflict: 10
All three kids within the family pose different challenges that the parents find themselves having to adjust to, besides the challenges of just being new parents. The parental-work-life balance is real and you’re exposed to all of that throughout the duration of the movie.

Entertainment Value: 8

Memorability: 8

Pace: 5

Plot: 6
The story itself is pretty straightforward and basic. Twenty minutes in and you pretty much know how it’s going to play out. Still, that doesn’t make it any less enjoyable of a movie.

Resolution: 10
The ending…man, that ending. I’ve only watched this movie once because that damn touching conclusion. Such a great payoff.

Overall: 80
I typically don’t gravitate towards movies with Lifetime plots, but Instant Family is a winner. It heartwarming, endearing, and real from start to finish. Surprise treat of 2018.

More Adorable Than Action
I will be the first to admit that I'm not a huge transformers fan. However, my friend really wanted to see it and so I ended up seeing it through. I'll admit that I liked it more than I thought I would but I find this is due to the fact that this movie did not follow the typical layout for a transformers movie. Rather I found it to be more in the spirit of teenhood flick than an action packed movie about robots from outer space. I found bumblebee
to be humorous, fun loving character as he learned the basics of earth and his female friend to be... well more whimsical than the usual strong, overly sexualized female lead the transformers movies often portray. It was a nice change, the whole film was very different, not what I was expecting at all. Whether this is a good thing or not has yet to be decided though as I wait to watch whether the transformers movies are going to continue and what will be released next. However, if you've come looking for an Action flick to watch then I would suggest something else because you will find nothing more than a whimsical teen flick here, all about building friendships between alien races, much like E.T.

A Touching And Winning Triumph
Toy Story 4 was a heartwarming story filled with exciting plot twists, lots of laughs, and even a few heart wrenching moments. The movie is easy to follow while still being very exciting. Made by Disney Pixar they uphold their hold on wholesome, funny, and exciting entertainment. I’ll admit I was a bit skeptical at first as this was the fourth movie in the saga and I was convinced that there wasn’t much for the writers to go off on since the 3rd movie comes to such a happy conclusion. I am happy to say that I was pleasantly surprised! I walked into the theatre feeling a little unsure, to being moved to tears by the conclusion of the film, and then leaving the theatre feeling like a small part of my childhood was complete since I was raised on this Disney/Disney-Pixar movies!

The original cast is back at it again with Tom Hanks voicing Woody and Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear. This of course only added to the charm of the movie as I can’t imagine anyone better. It was also awesome to have the Voice actors from Toy Story 3 back and In the movie. I was also very pleased to have Bo Peep back in the saga! One of the best things about the film is the new lovable characters. One of my absolute favorites was Forky voiced by Tony Hale. Forky is a toy that was made by bonnie while she was feeling lonely at kindergarten orientation, Forky is made out of craft supplies (pipe cleaners, googly eyes, etc.) and a spork.

Forky doesn’t want to be Bonnie’s toy at first and is constantly trying to go be in the trash because that is where he feels like he belongs. Woody dedicates himself to keeping forky available to Bonnie because she has become attached to him. Finally, Woody is able to help forky to see why his role in Bonnie’s life is important.

There are plenty of other lovable characters and a wonderful plot. It was a charming movie that I would recommend to all ages! I was very pleased with the movie and would happily go see it again in a heartbeat! I would proudly give the movie 5 stars, It was brilliantly done.

is anyone else just TIRED of the "i'm engaged to the Worst Person Alive and won't do anything about it until i meet this down to earth single person who makes me feel like i've never felt before but i'm gonna lead them on until i'm finally fed up with how my fiance treats me and everyone else" plot? what is it with movies that feature engaged people that just stops them from being in a relationship with decent people, and the movie doesn't end with the engaged person dumping their fiance for the one they met like a week ago?

regardless, this movie is kind of cute. it features a great dynamic between the main character, Ellie, and her father as well as a friendship to strive toward (her father and uncle Zeke). it's a very sweet story, and despite my little rant up top, i did enjoy it. it's heart warming, entertaining, and the ending had me tearing up a little bit?

The epitomy of "so bad, it's great!"
One of my local independent theaters advertised this and I knew instantaneously: This movie was going to be so terrible, I would love it. It did not disappoint. A great trip back in time to before movies fit neatly into one of two categories: A) takes itself too seriously, or B) Superhero movie. This Santa still knows if you've been naughty or nice, but it's only because he eavesdrops on your conversations and watches your dreams. He lives in a castle in the sky, and can only visit Earth on Dec. 24th of every year. When he does, hilarity ensues as he constantly foils the Devil's plans to put each and every kid on the naughty list. If you're a fan of terrible B movies that just let go and keep you laughing, definitely check this out. Definitely some shallow stereotypes played up for laughs. Not for the easily offended.

intriguing and engaging plot despite the film totalling a 3 hour running time: every single time i watch the film, despite knowing the whole storyline, i never feel that the movie is dragging
range of likeable and incredibly despicable characters along with solid character development
incredibly memorable, heartwarming & heartbreaking in equal measures
my GOODNESS it's so harrowing (the only complaints i've received from those i've recommended it to was the number of tears it made them shed) (1 more)
absence of female characters :(
one of my favourite films of all time
i've only just bought the book & i'm slightly nervous to read it (i do usually tend to read the book first) as i'm worried it'll ruin my opinion of the film as a direct adaptation of the book but this means this review is entirely based upon the film independently!!

Woo-Ah!!!
When you look up thansgiving movies, Scent of a Women comes up. Yes even though it takes over thanksgiving break, it is far from a thanksgiving movie. Its depressing, sad, motived, caring and heartwarming. Its a excellent movie, but man its very depressing and sad. Both Al Pacino and Chris O'Donnell are excellent.

The plot: Frank is a retired Lt. Col. in the US army. He's blind and impossible to get along with. Charlie is at school and is looking forward to going to college. To help pay for a trip home for Christmas, he agrees to look after Frank over Thanksgiving. Frank's niece says this will be easy money, but she didn't reckon on Frank spending his Thanksgiving in New York.

Pacino painstakingly researched his part in Scent of a Woman. To understand what it feels like to be blind, he met with clients of New York's Associated Blind, being particularly interested in seeing from those who had lost their sight due to trauma. Clients traced the entire progression for him—from the moment they knew they would never see again to the depression and through to acceptance and adjustment. The Lighthouse, also in New York, schooled him in techniques a blind person might use to find a chair and seat themselves, pour liquid from a bottle and light a cigar.

Its a excellent movie, but its very depressing and sad at moments. So get ready to cry at those moments.
