Fascinatingly horrific
A film that follows the horrific events of what happened in Detroit in 1967 that reflects not only what society was like then but what it is still like today. It's thought-provoking and gut-wrenching and you leave the cinema with a heavy feeling in your gut. It's a little too long, bits can definitely be trimmed off here and there. It's a film everyone needs to see.

One of your must reads
It maybe an old book (mentioning the great American depression more than once) but the information will never go out of date. As I stated it's not a light read but you get a history lesson, a self help and business book all rolled into one. It should be on the list of must read books in your lifetime.

Give me more Darkling
Just some rough thoughts:
Amazing writing, complex storyline but not hard to follow with deep and wonderfully developed characters. This was quickly absorbing and totally unpredictable. The description was perfectly pitched, not too heavy but I was able to paint the world easily in my mind. I listened on audio and the narration was superb.
I favour the Darkling. Does that make me dark?

Shakespeare fun
Writer/director/star Kenneth Branagh brings one of his several Shakespeare adaptations to the big screen with a very memorable cast including Denzel Washington, Emma Thompson, Michael Keaton and a very young Kate Beckinsale.
If you like old English you will love the comedy, mistaken identity with a little tragedy. This one is not too heavy and can be enjoyed by everyone.

Skewed Capitalistic Message
Pacing
The Platform manages to make a room with a hole interesting for two hours, but its downfall is in its blatant moral dilemma. It assumes that all people start at the same level when we know damn well, that is not the case. Overall, it's well put together, but I found the message hard to believe. 6/10
