Ruth Frampton (577 KP) rated The Fairy in the Kettle in Books

What a lovely little book, fairies and friendship all combine when the wind blows up a storm leaving the fairies in trouble, happily there is one little fairy who loves the rain and is happy to welcome others and all is good in the end. As a story, this could be a great way to support little ones who find wind and heavy rain difficult to cope with or just a lovely memory for your little one to remember and keep the magic of nature alive.

I couldn't put this down! It is a very heavy book. Really made me think about myself, my friends, my town, our world. I think everyone should read this. I know some people have said that Picoult can't possibly write about the struggles of being a minority, but she sure did try, and try well. The audience she has will be better off after reading this. If you read her words after the story ends, you will see how much she tried to get this just right.
Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2589 KP) rated Nightmare (Dangerous Times, #2) in Books

Maia is at the newest amusement park in the country - Ghost Town - when she sees a friend as one of the ghosts. Then she finds out this friend is missing. What is going on? This is a Christian novel with heavy ghost elements. Yet it treats the ghosts are real, or at least potentially real. Very well done with some creepy scenes. Perfect Halloween read.

One of those books that I've always felt was required reading (like The Lord of the Rings), but boy oh boy: was that heavy going!
Not a novel to read for the fun of it: Melville goes so heavily into the minutae of life aboard a whaler that, at times, it's more like reading a (exceedingly dry) technical tome than reading an actual novel. I think you could chop a good 2/3rds of the book out, and still get the flavour of the plot ...

Reviewing the knot after one listen
I remember kerrang calling the unknown band the white wu tang clan, following by them or metal hammer destroying my mind worth the inclusion of eyelets on their cover CD. Seriously
Fast forward to the 42 year old now who sees past the theatrics but since verse 3 loves the band as the anthemic heavy grinders they are.
After first listen o think this CD is meandering cheap...but I'll be back lol

Rolling Stone's 489th greatest album of all time
Oh dear me. This truly was dreadful in my opinion, just a few heavy rock songs about being in a rock band, then a slow sex song for the ladies, and then back to more mindless rock. In theory this should have been a treat for me but it was a real bad listen. It reminded me so much of Vic and Bob in this scene that I just couldn't take it seriously:
