I liked this.

It's my second story by the author, the other being The Huntress which I loved.

I'm not entirely a fan of sci-fi stories but Michelle has this way of weaving a tale that is heavy on the romance while still being very sci-fi/fantasy, and since I read books for the romance aspect most of the time they are right up my street.

I came to like Chase Stryker from early on and Sukeza grew on me the more she protested against his capture. Reading about their evolving relationship was great and I was urging them to stop being stubborn and just get together.

The relationship between Harle and Chase was fun to read about too. I'm used to reading about the relationship between female friends but the friendship between those two had me chuckling at times.

The synopsis didn't give much away with how this story would play out but I really enjoyed the journey over the three main places mentioned in the book and could picture them in my head.

I look forward to reading more books by the author.

I received this copy via the author in exchange for an honest review.

I’m a huge fan of Lindsay Buroker so when she offered me the chance to read this, I jumped at the chance.

It’s part two in her Dragon Blood series and takes place a little time after the first. This one is more like her Emperor’s Edge series with it being heavy on the action and light on the romance, though there is enough to make you happy. It’s more subtle than that of the first, which is what I really like about the authors books.

I grew to like Tolemek/the Deathmaker early on in this, despite him being one of the bad guys, and I think Cas had the same problem. He’s unlike the rest of the pirates she ends up meeting. Tolemek doesn’t like hurting women, unlike some of the others, and over time he softens towards Cas and she gets under his skin. It was all rather sweet reading.

If you’re a fan of the author then you need to read this. If you’ve never read anything by her, why not?

This novel was so fast-paced and Saving Beck is such a well-written book. I was fully invested in the entirety of the novel and couldn’t wait to find out more about what happened with Beck when he was AWOL for two (2) months. I truly loved the fact that the author did flashbacks (past and present) for both Natalie and Beck. It helped to get a better understanding of what was truly going on. The switching of POV’s was also very interesting.

The whole novel is not only action-packed but also has tons of twists and turns that will leave you wanting just a tad more. The multiple of POV’s work very well with this storyline and it actually ends up helping the reader get a better understanding of what each character is feeling. It also allows the reader the opportunity to get the story and character background that is much needed.

Questions asked while reading:

What caused Beck to start using heavy drugs?
What was going with him and his girlfriend?
Why didn’t Natalie seek out help after her husband passed?
“Because I killed my father.”
