Movie Metropolis (309 KP) rated Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) in Movies

I’ve always said that the best Marvel films are the ones that feature a different genre, rather than just ‘superhero movie’. Case in point with The Winter Soldier. Directed by the Russo brothers, this second outing for the First Avenger is almost heist-like in its presentation.
With a great cast and some absolutely breath-taking action sequences, it remains one of the very best films in the MCU with very few negatives. If I had to criticise, I’d say that Henry Jackman’s score is a little forgettable but this is a very small point in a film filled with surprises.

More of the same (timey wimey)
The second book in this trilogy is largely a retelling of the first book. Nick sees some mysterious people, who turn out to be from the future, there is a lot of talk about time travel and parallel universes and there is a heist sequence at the end.
This book was a lot heavier on the pseudo-science and that got a little tiring and head-scratchy at times, with all the talk of paradoxes and whatnot.
This was an enjoyable read, but as with anything time travel related too much creativity and inventiveness can only lead to stretches in plausibility and lengthy justifications for the "science".

Zombie Heist
This looked like a good mix of action and zombies on the trailer. It is a fun film with a simple plot. Las Vegas is now a walled off Zombie zone and before the place gets nuked a team are formed to gather 250 million from a casino vault.
When the action is going it's a fun film with some great scenes and some new twists on the Zombie gerne. At nearly two and half hours long though there are a few lulls between the action. Not quite the action packed Zombie blaster it could have been but definitely enough to satisfy the fans.

Family Matters
Contraband- is a decent action heist thriller. It has a good cast. Its a intresting movie.
The plot: Ex-smuggler Chris Farraday (Mark Wahlberg) gave up his criminal ways long ago. But, he's forced back into the game after his brother-in-law, Andy (Caleb Landry Jones), botches a drug deal for a crime lord (Giovanni Ribisi), leaving Chris to settle the debt. With the help of his best friend (Ben Foster), Chris assembles a team to run to Panama to retrieve a fortune in counterfeit bills. When things go awry, Chris must call on his rusty skills to complete the task before his family pays the price.
Like i said before is good.

Fun Action Comedy
This seemed to spring out of no where, only spotted a trailer this week. Apparently Netflix's biggest budget film to date.
A mix of heist, action, comedy caper as interpol and the FBI try to catch the world's most wanted art thief.
There is a good balance of comedy and action as we tour several destinations around the globe in a treasure hunt for 3 jewelled eggs said to have belonged to Cleopatra. The main trio and the chemistry between them when all on screen together is the real highlight.
Overall a bright, breezy, fun film that was enjoyable if not actually raising the bar for these sort of films.
