Decent hip-hop album, reminiscent of Ja Rule's voice. Some decent tracks but not a brilliant album overall.

"I like that kind of conceptual hip hop in a way. It's really minimal and stripped down. It builds a kind of insistence. I really like Legacy, generally"

Great hip hop album, focusing on a near-constant lyrical stream from Nas with good music and beats in the background.

"It’s usually some hip hop like Rick Ross or Ace Hood called ‘Bugatti’, and it just like undeniably gets me hyped. So that’s usually one I’ll crank up pretty loudly"

Solid Latino New York Hip Hop
Probably arriving a couple of years too late and on a more indie rock label, As The World Burns never really made the impact an album as good as this should have done.

This is solid Hip Hop where the MCs sound passionate, with plenty of humour, punchlines and just dope beats. Q-Unique stood out but non of the emcees are week. Just go listen to it.

Rolling Stone's 275th greatest album of all time
Eminem's second album (though lets be honest nobody has heard his debut album). It is a little rough and ready as he is finding his place and fighting as an underdog. Featuring the instantly recognisable "My Name Is" and the superb "Guilty Conscience" it is a good solid hip hop album that appeals to casual hip hop fans more than more seasoned listeners of the genre.

Superb hip hop album, even for a part-time listener like me. Great, intelligent melodies and lyrics, and a range of guest vocalists.

"It was just a very definitive moment in not only West Coast hip hop, but hip hop in general. It was a bridge - it was young hip hop with an old soul, which made it alternative. Rap was still fairly young at that point. I had a friend who was a very cool guy, he had the weed, and always had a demeanour about him - 'I know something you don't'. He had an advance copy, which made it even cooler. Almost every break beat there is is used on that album, which gives you an unwritten indication that anyone could have done it - but of course, that's not true. Technically, he started where we all had to start from, which is the bottom. That's what's cool about it."
