A story through the years
Run Forest run!
An awesome film that will grow on you with repeat viewings. It has become one of my fave films. I love how the story progresses over the years of the characters lifetime and ties into real historical events. A very heartwarming film. If you missed it put it to the top of your must watch list.
Ruth Frampton (577 KP) rated Vikings in 30 Seconds in Books

Bright and colourfully presented, this "in 30 seconds" book about the Vikings is targeted at middle-grade readers but accessible by older students as well. It is well laid out and leaves information easily found. Illustrations are meaningful and show the lives of these well know historical people.
Overall, this is a pleasant read, that adds to information and one I would happily put in my youngster's library.

Good gravy this book is amazing! I was not 100% sure I would like it given the fact it's not typically the type of book I'd read, but I'm so glad I took a chance on it as I learned a great deal from this book and thoroughly enjoyed the ride the book give. I would definitely recommend this book, even if you're not typically one that goes for historical stories.
Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2470 KP) rated Eighth Shepherd (A.D. Chronicles, #8) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
The slow march toward the crucifixion continues as we get the story of tax collector Zachai of Jericho. While this historical fiction series has been more hit and miss than normal for the Thoenes, I got emotionally drawn into this volume even though I knew the ultimate outcome.

The Thoene's bring back characters from earlier books to retell the story of the Prodigal Son. However, they turn their historical fiction into fantasy and kill the climax of what should have been a powerful book. I'm debating whether I will continue to read them or not.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2470 KP) rated For the Love of Mike (Molly Murphy Mysteries, #3) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Searching for missing woman and working undercover in the sweat shops of 1901 New York is enough to keep Molly very busy. Can she find the woman while also forming an early union? The historical detail, characters, and plot all come together for a great book.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2470 KP) rated The Last Musketeer (The Last Musketeer, #1) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Greg Rich finds himself sucked back through time to early 1600's Paris where he must unite teenage musketeers to save his parents. A kids book that combines elements of fantasy with historical fiction, I enjoyed it, although I did find the set up a bit too long.
