Merissa (13883 KP) rated The Heart (Ice Dragons Hockey, #2) in Books
Dec 17, 2018
The Heart is the second book in the Ice Dragons Hockey series, and we reunite with Alex, aka Simba. Some time has passed since the end of The Code and the Dragons are on a losing streak. Alex calls for a meeting which goes on until early hours of the morning. On his way home, he and Ryan spot a car accident, and Alex is able to save both the baby and her father, although he is injured in the process. Jo is a firefighter on probation and the one who saves Alex.
This is a great story, with a humorous start in the kitchen between Jo and Alex. Jo has her own reasons for not wanting a relationship, the same as Alex does, but that doesn't stop them from being attracted to each other, and wanting more. There is an air of suspense with this book too as Jo has to deal with different situations all connected by a bomb. With additional stories involving Gooley, and the twins, there is definitely something here for everyone.
Very well written, with no editing or grammatical errors to disrupt the reading flow, this is a wonderful addition to the series. Definitely recommended by me, and I'm looking forward to Gooley's story which is coming next.
* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and my comments here are my honest opinion. *

Whatchareadin (174 KP) rated Booty Camp in Books
Aug 5, 2019
Mila and Grady practically grew up together. Grady's sister along with Mila and other friends just opened a new roller rink in town. Mila is beautiful, but quiet and shy. Every time Grady sees her, he wants to devour her. What he doesn't know is that Mila is a virgin and she's crushing on the douchebag who runs the roller hockey league. But before Mila gets with him, she would like a few lessons and who better to teach her than Grady. They are up for a weekend of Booty Camp to teach Mila everything she needs to know to be with another man. Will Grady be able to let her go to another man after this weekend?
Thank you to Frankie Love, C.M. Seabrook and Booksprout for a copy of this book to review.
Booty Camp is the final book in the Booty Call series.
Even though Grady, as a pilot, has a different woman in every city, there is only one woman he wants. And teaching her to be good at sex for another man, might just kill him. Mila is surprised at how well things are going between her and Grady during their Booty Camp. Will she go to the other man or will she pine over Grady, a man she knows she can't have, or can she?
What will happen between these two friends? Will they become lovers or have to just deal with being teacher and instructor?

Merissa (13883 KP) rated Caught (Gold Hockey #15) in Books
Jan 31, 2022 (Updated Jul 5, 2023)
CAUGHT is the fourteenth book in the Gold Hockey series but you can read it as a standalone. This time, it's Charlie's story and we get to find out just what drove him back home. It's also Kacee's story, as she learns that sometimes it's okay to let people in.
Told from both perspectives, you get an up-close and personal viewpoint on just how they have both survived what they have gone through, and how they interact with each other, making their rough edges smoother. It also shows how it can be easier to give to someone else, rather than receive anything for yourself.
This is an emotional story that will make you laugh and feel sorrow as Charlie struggles with what he has going on. To be honest, I would have liked a bit more back-story about Ji-Ho and how he treated Charlie, but that may just be me wanting to see the train wreck before I get my HEA.
I am loving the Gold family and can't wait for the next book. A brilliant addition to the series that I have no hesitation in recommending.

Merissa (13883 KP) rated Breathe (Breakers Hockey #7) in Books
Jul 17, 2023
BREATHE is the seventh book in the Breakers Hockey series and this time it's Theo's turn. He's the playboy of the team, never wanting to settle down. And he has had some major issues with Eva from the very beginning. We now find out why.
Eva and Theo are similar in many ways, and both of them hide their hurt behind walls a mile high. It's only after they've sniped and snarled at each for a while that they begin to realise there might be more between them than just snark. This was a great story showing just how badly family can hurt and also heal.
I thoroughly enjoyed the story and its arc, as it moved from enemies, to friends, and then to lovers. Eva and Theo are protective of each other, which I loved. Walker and Dommie have a bit of a sneak story in here. I'm hoping they get to tell their story in full. The pacing is perfect and the little signs of affection - Theo and Eva's love language - is dotted throughout, making this a wonderful read with plenty of emotions.
A great addition to the series and definitely recommended by me.

Merissa (13883 KP) rated Get Frosted (Christmas Falls #3) in Books
Nov 16, 2023
GET FROSTED is the third book in the multi-author series, Christmas Falls. This time we have the managers of the two pubs - Frosty's and Rudolph's. They have known each other for years as Rudy was Mik's brother's best friend. They had a rivalry that was blown out of proportion to keep them both in the spotlight when they played hockey. Rudy is the one who has always moved around. Mik is the one with deep roots in Christmas Falls.
Although I enjoyed the story, it didn't press as many buttons as the previous books have. I also can't agree with them being 'forced' to work together. No one forced anything. Although this is billed as low angst, I actually would have preferred a little more angst! It felt as though the storyline about Rudy possibly leaving was almost lost amidst the pregnant sister-in-law and the birthday granny.
On the whole, I enjoyed this story and did enjoy being back in Christmas Falls. It just didn't work as well for me as the others have. I have no hesitation in recommending it for all those who love a low-angst seasonal story.

super low angst, but super good!
Independent reviewer for Neon, I was gifted my copy of this book.
There is a bit at the front of this book, and I don't usually read those notes but I'm glad I did. It sets the tone of the book beautifully!
Ben lands the job of Slappy, beaver mascot for the Bloomburg Aspens hocky team. he isn't supposed to tell anyone. But he and Lukas are already hooking up, and he doesn't want any secrets. What can go wrong??
And, my dear peeps, is the sum of the angst in this book! What will happen if anyone finds out that Lukas, of said hockey team, knows who the top secret mascot is??
It is SUPER low angst between Lukas and Ben. Super hot chemistry between them. Super sweet as they keep getting together. Super super SUPER!
I loved this book, I really did. I think that note gets you into the mind of Ms Neill when she wrote this and I feel a bit . . .I dunno . . .closer to her. . .maybe?? She is right though, the world has gone to pot. And books like this make it a little bit better, so thank you, Ms Neill!
A short review, but one that needed reigning in before it ran into 6 pages!
5 full and shiny stars, but honestly, I'd give more if I could!
