The main issue is the pacing and dialogue. I always found Part 2 Jason to be pretty intimidating, almost like a feral animal, but this time around, he's sneaking about Higgin's Haven, causing all kinds of hijinks and skulking in the distance. Leave that shit to Michael Myers and give me the Jason that's an unstoppable bull in a china shop!
This approach to Jason means that there is a ludicrous number of fake out scares in the first half of the film. It becomes trying pretty quickly.
The script is absolutely piss poor, no two ways about it - although I do appreciate the more frequent attempts at humour than what came before. Some of the characters are memorable in their own way - Shelley and Fox to name a couple, but none of the characters are developed much - watching the special features, it was made clear that the use of 3D and the increased technical issues that came with it took up most of the attention whilst filming - a classic case of actors doing the best with what they were given, which wasn't much in this instance!
Although all of this ensures that the end product doesn't begin to touch the first two in terms of quality, there are still some positives of course. This was the entry that gave Jason his iconic hockey mask for starters, and the make up work done on actor Richard Brooker is impressive even today. The practical work put into the films many death scenes is easy to appreciate, and the overall look of the film is pure 80s slasher, which is never a bad thing.
It's not the best film in the series, and certainly not the worst, and if you like slashers as much as I do, then there's definitely something for you here, even if the end result feels a bit aimless.

This is part of the Love in Maplewood series, I have not read any others and I don't think you would need to, they all appear to be linked only by Maplewood and the low angst tag. I wouldn't say no to reading any more, though!
Jason lives in Maplewood and helps run the family maple syrup farm. Bellamy is traded to the local ice hockey team. He has been moved a lot, and it's beginning to get old. Meeting Jason and things seemed to be looking up, that is, until he finds out that Jason is the brother of Ryland, his arch enemy.
What I especially loved about this book is the low angst. I have some *stuff* going on right now, and it absolutely hit the spot I needed it to! Jason and Bellamy are aware they will upset Ryland , but still know that what they have is special. And, as Bellamy points out, Ryland is the real instigator in their "feud"
I found it steamy, but not especially smexy, and I really enjoyed that I could just fall into the book and watch these two men fall in love, without smexy stuff taking over. I love a smexy book, don't get me wrong, but for these two, I think it was a perfect balance of steam and emotion.
I loved that there was not a break up/make up thing and I loved that Ryland, while initially. . .not hurt, but more put out. . .by Jason being with Bellamy, he comes around in the best way!
Loved the epilogue and the bonus chapter.

Okay, quick run down - Bayleigh is Deaf, working as the social media manager for the Krakens, and is the younger sister of one of their players, Benton. Her scent mate has rejected her for being Deaf, and she has been bullied on more than one occasion for her disability. Korbin plays for the Scorpions, mortal enemies of the Krakens, and has a bad history with Benton. Lincoln is Korbin's brother, and Milton is their brother in all but blood, who also plays for the Scorpions. With me? Good.
Now, I read this in one sitting, because I simply could NOT put it down! I loved that it was Lincoln first, rather than the hotshot hockey players, BUT I loved how they were with Bayleigh. It is slow build, as none of them are prepared to rush Bayleigh, but when it gets hot, get your fan ready. Bayleigh is a wonderful character, being both strong and yet fragile, which, given her past, makes perfect sense. I loved how they all learnt ASL for her, which is exactly how it should be.
I spent most of the book disliking Benton for his attitude, but he pulled through in the end. And now, I can't wait to read his story! I really hope we see his sister and her mates too, as I don't think I'm ready to leave them behind. I need a Lincoln in my life!!!
Absolutely adored this book, and I can't wait to continue with the series. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by me.
