"As clearly as there is only one Lino Ventura, there is a sole Jean Gabin. Neither have I seen a replica of Michèle Morgan nor Michel Simon (one of the reasons why Renoir’s Boudu should be in this list, but . . .). Port of Shadows is a pure actor-based melodrama full of prewar pessimism. Bicycle Thieves proves that even the tiniest dreams can be torn to pieces. Never in the history of cinema has hope been served in so minimalistic but heartbreaking a way as in the last shot of this masterpiece."

"When I was starting to think about making my own films, it was always Lynne Ramsay who I would turn to. I think she is an incredible filmmaker and one of the greatest we’ve ever had in the UK. I would watch this film endlessly, amazed by the composition, the sound design, the naturalistic acting. It is also beautifully emotional. I still put it on in the background when I write, in the hope of some inspiration. I met her briefly at an awards party last year, and I was stupidly overexcited."

"I’m cheating again, because this isn’t a movie at all. It’s an episode of an Adult Swim show, and I’ve watched it more than anything else this year. It’s only ten or twelve minutes and it leaves me feeling like I’m a better person. It is warm and cozy and fills me with compassion and hope for humanity. It is also a celebration of my favorite meal. I look forward to many more viewings in the year to come, whenever I need a pick-me-up, large or small."

Okay, so I didn't actually finish reading this one, but that's because I just couldn't. Now, it could be that my preview copy was an earlier version than what will be published. There were certainly far too many typos and problems with the text for what I got to ever go to press. I do hope that I've gotten the wrong impression, since I did see flashes of brilliance in what I did read, and the writer does seem to have potential. She just needs a really, Really, REALLY good editor.

4.5 stars.

Wow! I had a feeling this would be good but I had no idea how good.

I loved both Zoey and Declan and this only lost that half a star for the ending, which I know the author had to leave open for the series to continue but come on! I want to kick both their arses for being so stupid at the end.

Nevertheless I really enjoyed the story and I hope good will kick manipulative arse in the next book because I really like Zoey and Declan as a couple.

Imagine my surprise when I saw I had read this before! I can't find the edition I read for the second time. I honestly don't remember any of the story, but I'm not sure if it's because this newest addition had reviews and added chapters or not. Either way, I enjoyed the story of Elena and look forward to seeing what's in store for her - I hope happiness, because this poor girl has been through hell at such a young age. I can't wait to watch her grow and mature, then conquer her life.

So today I decided I needed cheering up, so I got a ticket to see A Dog's Purpose. Well it'll cheer you up in the fact that there are puppies in it, but for about 80% of the film you'll be crying. I really hope that dogs do think all of those things... especially about cats. I know there was controversy about animal abuse, but after reading about the incident I've drawn my own conclusions. You'll no doubt have your own too, and that's fine... so let's leave it at that shall we?

Giving this film a rating of 1 is much more than it deserves. An absolute mess of a film from minute one, dialogue that was probably written by a 4 year old..ridiculous unscary monsters and actors with as much charisma and personality as a broken teapot.

The previous Doom movie they did was pretty bad but compared to this it's an oscar winning masterpiece.I dont know what possessed me to watch this but hope this review will make sure others avoid the torture of this film.
