Prison of Hope ( Hellequin Chronicles book 4)
By Steve McHugh
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Long ago, Olympian gods imprisoned the demon Pandora in a human—Hope—creating a creature whose only purpose was chaos and death. Remorseful, the gods locked Pandora away in Tartarus, ruled by Hades.

Now, centuries later, Pandora escapes. Nate Garrett, a 1,600-year-old sorcerer, is sent to recapture her and discovers her plan to disrupt the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games, killing thousands in a misplaced quest for vengeance.

Fast forward to modern-day Berlin, where Nate has agreed to act as guardian on a school trip to Germany to visit Hades at the entrance to Tartarus. When Titan King Cronus becomes the second ever to escape Tartarus, Nate is forced to track him down and bring him back, to avert a civil war between those who would use his escape to gain power.

I love love love this series! This has to be the best one yet. I really like the way the author uses the Greek gods and mythology as well as bringing all the myths and legends into the story without it getting silly. Nate is just brilliant I love his relationship with Tommy and other characters. I like the back story of Nate’s life that runs along with whatever he’s facing in current times. It’s such a good series.

BAD AT BEING GOOD is a standalone story about friendship, loss, and how people deal with grief in their own ways. It is also about love, and how that can impact your life in ways you don't expect.

My heart went out to Benji from the very beginning. He has so much to deal with, at such a young age. I loved that Kellan was there for him... until he wasn't. And Milo, oh, Milo. He is such a sweetie. Also dealing with a lot, not the least of which was Benji ghosting him for a year, but he still has hope and tenacity.

I loved how this book shows how different people deal with grief. There isn't one-size-fits-all situation, and some of the ways aren't the healthiest, but there was hope by the end.

While giving you the lows, it also gave me the highs - seeing Benji and Milo develop their relationship with each other, and the steamy moments that brought, as well as their relationships with others in their lives.

There wasn't a single moment when I wasn't hooked by this story. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by me!

Now, you may remember that I fell in love with Julian and Malachi in DEAREST MILTON JAMES, which I declared a Mary Poppins book - practically perfect in every way! Let me tell you that this one is no different. DEAREST MALACHI KEOGH is simply outstanding. There's a whole lot packed into this novella, and I devoured every single word.

Malachi and Julian have been together for four years, and Julian wants to propose BUT he wants it to be as special as Malachi is. *Hint* that's a lot!! The whole gang gets involved and what you get is something totally sweet and completely hot at the same time.

My word, but I love these two. I could read them forever, seriously. Told from Julian's perspective, you feel everything. His nerves, his hope, his love. I love Malachi's reactions. He is still fabulous but now doesn't have his hair dyed (shame!).

For a short but sweet seasonal story, this one was fantastic. I loved it, and the characters were like old friends. I really hope this isn't the end of the mailroom. I enjoy myself far too much there.

Do I recommend it? Erm, maybe just a little WHOLE LOT!!! 😍

Ever have a bad day?
Well I think I’m having one.
First my employer tries to kill me. I get saved by someone who says he’s my soul bound mate, but he’s made it clear he doesn’t want me.
Turns out, he only saved me because I can lead him to Hell, to the mate he really wants.
What a charmer?
Did you know Death is a real person? Yep, he runs Hell and he’s not happy to see us.
He claims my soul was stolen from him and he wants it back.
So I have to enter into these death trials that will decide not just my fate, but those of my mates.
If I lose, our souls are lost here in Hell forever, but if I can overcome my fears and be the Widow I’ve been trained to be, I’ll win and evolve into someone who is more than an assassin.
Let’s hope I've got what it takes to live, or I will forever stay tangled in the web of my own making..

I have really enjoyed this series and at the end of this I’m in hope for a series including this new harem! CY Jones is becoming a go to author for me. This was catching up with old characters as well as finding new. A decent read for harem fans.

I really enjoyed it magic always has a price as they say in once upon a time but this book show it in an enlightening way and charming characters. All wishes and hope come with challenages attached a great story from beginning to end.

Follow Scarlett as she wants to enter the world of Caraval the place she heard stories of since she and her sister were young. Follow Her adventure of escaping from her home only to learn that fantasies are just as dark and hard if not harder than reality. Watch as she learns to believes everything and nothing and get caught up in the dream yourself.

I remember hearing about the horrible tornados that struck Tuscaloosa. Who in SEC country didn't hear about it and feel pain even if the Tide were your rivals. What I didn't realize was how wide spread the tornado outbreak was in Alabama. Kim Cross does a magnificent job using investigative reporting and research skills to recreate the horrible event. She uses the actual words of survivors as well as those who were lost during those days. Through her words we feel the horror, hope, and healing that occured from this "act of God".I recommend this book to anyone who is a weather geek, a disaster geek, or just like a truely heartfelt story told by a talented author.

So as basic as the writing was this book was pretty good. Not the best but not horrible.

The only thing that threw me off was the main character.

I'm not a big fan of characters who constantly contradict themselves. Like one minute the main character was like "I'm swearing off men and im staying away from the guys who i find attractive." and the next shes like "oh i hope hes still interested in me."

Another flaw in the books was the lack of relationship depth.

Sure you can see the connection but it really didn't play out well enough to have me root for them.

All in all this book gets 3 stars.

This was such a richly crafted novel! I'm still taking everything in. When Beth's eight-year-old daughter vanishes without a trace right before her eyes, it feels as though her world has surreptitiously turned on its axis. How does a parent recover from something so tragic? When the leads fizzle out and time goes on, The author paints a loving and endearing portrait of a mother struggling to stay alive, and to put one foot in front of the other day after day. She refuses to give up hope or to ever stop looking for her little girl.

The author's skillful use of alternating perspectives between chapters, and a totally unexpected plot twist, made this thrilling to read.
