I have mixed feelings about this film. For one, it is a great move forward towards realistic sci-fi, and I hope more movies are made like this.
The biggest problems for me were, a) the voiceover, it reminded me too much of Interview with a Vampire, and b) Brad Pitt being the lead. I could think of other actors that could have executed the character a little better.
Like others, I felt like the ending was completely anticlimactic. The story was so strong throughout, then I feel like it was spoiled. The film was also a little too long. That being said, the VFX were pretty amazing, and I can only imagine what this film would look like in IMAX.

Hope everyone is okay with all this still going on. Anyway tomorrow I make my first visit back to the cinema in almost five months too see empire strikes back am I glad yes kinda and kinda nervous what with some parts of the country back in lockdown too say I've missed going to the cinema is the understatement of the year . Because going to the cinema on my day off has become weekly ritual for me for 25 years and to loose it for so long has been hard I'm passionate about movies and I'm glad I found smashbomb and fellow people who share the same interests as me. Anyway got to finish my post and say bye for now

This is not your usual memoir about the Holocaust ... well not one I have ever read before anyway ... it's the true story of what is was like for a family of Jews living in France during World War II.

Written from the perspective of three of the children, the story tells of their harrowing experiences during the German occupation of France and having to move from place to place, losing the adults in their lives and being separated from their siblings.

This is a heart-rending story but also a story of survival, bravery and hope and I want to thank the Duckworth Books Group via JellyBooks for my copy in return for them analysing my reading data and an honest review although this wasn't compulsory.
