Can two broken paths lead toward Gods redemption?
When Ashley Showalter and Ben Henning meet on Ashleys horse rescue farm, they quickly discover how much they have in common. Both were raised by single moms. Both want to help where they see a need. And both work with horses in the Boise valley. Ben needs Ashleys help and expertise after starting an equine therapy barn on his great-great-grandfathers farmand the more time they spend together, both Ashley and Ben have the feeling that there could be something more between them.
They also carry the burden of past experiences that may drive them apart if the truth is ever revealed. Ben is a recovering alcoholic with five years of sobriety behind him, while Ashleys brother is an opioid addict residing in court-ordered rehab. Holding fast to the belief that addicts can never be cured, Ashley has promised herself she will never walk knowingly into the chaos created by addiction. Cross My Heart threads together a contemporary love story with the heartwarming tale of Bens great-great-grandfather, Andrew Henningreminding us that Gods Word is timeless and that His promises are new every morning.
My Thoughts: This is such a wonderful story. The readers will love the story of Ben's family history and the wonderful woman Sashley who is all about rescuing horses. This is a story of healing, it's also about rescuing or saving those who are in a bad situation whether they be human or equine. God loves us so much that He sent His son to die on the cross for us. We are to love as He loves us and I do believe that is shown in this story. The way Andrew Henning took in 3 children to love on them as his own. It's about Ben's recovery and the forgiveness of his friend.
This story will win the hearts of its readers, I truly enjoy horses and the equine therapy is a wonderful idea for those who are hurting in any sort of way.

Phoenix Nichols is Dannys new trail guide. Her job is to help with the horses and keep an eye on the kids. With a past more painful than anything Danny has ever encountered, he finds himself unable to resist trying to help. When her past becomes her present, her trust in Danny is the only link she has to finding God
and peace.
My Thoughts: This is a wonderful story about healing. It teaches us not to judge people, not knowing what their life events have been or where it's taken them. This story introduces the readers to equine therapy which allows the abused learn to trust and love again.
The characters in the story were very believable and the reader feels empathy for them. The writer engages the reader and keeps the storyline moving. It was a joy to read. It is also a story about turning to God and trusting Him in everything.
This is a great story for those who love horses and cowboys. It may even lead to an interest in equine therapy.

Will Wild Horses Keep Joe from His Own Wedding?
Joe Rodriguez is getting married! While his fiancée is busy planning the wedding over in Ireland, Joe is trying to clear up his cases as a Phoenix homicide officer before he flies over. Unfortunately, his cases aren’t cooperating. The department has been tasked to keep a federal witness safe, and it is clear that someone knows he is in town and is anxious to kill him. Not that this is the only case he is trying to wrap up. And a friend keeps dragging him away to help save a heard of wild horses from poachers. Will anything be resolved before he has to fly to Ireland?
I’ll admit that Joe’s wedding as a ticking clock was a bit unrealistic, but it did provide some great scenes, so I’m willing to overlook it. While there are several storylines, the focus was still mostly in Phoenix, so this book didn’t feel as scattered as some in the series have. I loved how the cases wove around each other and how they tied together thematically. The main characters are fun as always, and the suspects fit wonderfully into the story. I must be softening to Joe’s fiancée since I actually enjoyed the parts related to the wedding. The series originated in the 1990’s, and the author has kept that time frame for these new cases, which provides some interesting comparisons for the reader on how much life has changed. There’s one more in the series, and I hope to get to it soon.

Sixteen Horses was a pretty gruesome thriller about a Forensic Veterinarian who is called in to investigate the discovery of sixteen horses heads, buried in a circle on farmland. If you find dismembered animals upsetting, then this won’t be the book for you, but I found the way that Cooper Allen undertook her investigation fascinating.
There is a really bleak, moody atmosphere throughout this book, that brought The Smiths song ‘Everyday is like Sunday’ to mind: this IS the coastal town that they forgot to close down, and everyday does seem to be grey - if not silent!
Ilmarsh is a town that has seen far better days, full of the unemployed and displaced, and even though it’s not a pleasant thought, it’s no surprise that it should be the setting for a series of disappearances, arson and mutilations. There is someone in this town with a lot of time on their hands. And no better way to spend it.
The writing is mesmerising - I found it hard to drag myself away, even though I found it profoundly unsettling. And that’s the big thing about this novel: I’m still not 100% sure who the culprit was, but I found myself not too upset by that. It was such a breathtaking journey (however, if anyone would like to message me with the answer to that, I wouldn’t be at all put out!)

Overall, the new Lady and the Tramp movie was cute. However, I didn't love that they completely recreated the Siamese cats. The were so classic to the old Disney animated version that it was sad to see them be so changed, assuming due to modern social issues. I wasn't nuts about the new cats or their new song. I also missed the puppies at the end of the animated movie! They also didn't have the Bloodhound get hit by the horses at the end of the live-action version. So some scenes were watered-down a bit, but all in all, the dogs were still cute and it was fun to see. I'm just personally still a bigger fan of the Disney animated version, I guess.
