Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated A Terrible Love (A Terrible Love, #1) in Books
Jan 11, 2021
I received this copy in exchange for an honest review.
I was quickly captivated by this story and the characters and quickly devoured this book.
The story has some dark aspects but they are to be expected in most New Adult books. This one is slightly darker than others and focuses on abuse and violence.
I’ll start by mentioning Devin Castile, I think I fell for him pretty early on or he at least got me a little hot and bothered. Wowzer! Well done for creating such a hot character :D
Mitch on the other hand seemed sweet and kind but their wasn’t really a spark there. He seemed too much of a gentleman (but some women like that).
I also really liked Brad and Carlie, they were fun characters and I enjoyed the banter they shared with Jess
Although dark, this is a well written book and having looked on GoodReads I’ve seen their is going to be a second book, A Brutal Tenderness, which sounds like it will tell the story from Devin’s POV. I’ll tell you now I will definitely be interested in seeing things from his view and I’ve marked it as “to-read”
I really enjoyed it and recommend it to those who like New Adult books and those who like their books a little grittier.

Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Unchained (Feathers and Fire, #1) in Books

Hmm...I prefer my Urban Fantasies to have a strong romance story in them too, and this one was rather slow in that regard. Apart from a few almost kisses, brushes of lips and butterflies in stomach there was nothing. I don't know if that's because it was written by a guy...But I do tend to stick to female authors.
The rest of the story was ok, but I did lose interest somewhere in the middle. My attention waned when the story didn't go how I wanted it to. It has me intrigued, though, but maybe not enough to continue the series unless things get hot and heavy with Nate in the next book.Hmm...I prefer my Urban Fantasies to have a strong romance story in them too, and this one was rather slow in that regard. It's AMORE!
Holy moly! Teagan Hunter has done it again! She has managed to have me LOLing all over the place, gaining crazy stares from my family, and a few strangers! I absolutely loved the sass and wit she put into the characters.
Wren and Foster. Foster and Wren. Anyway you look at it, they are meant to be together! The sparks flew between them instantly and I held on for dear life, watching them together. I loved the way Foster had to work to show Wren she was more than just his best friend's kid sister. When the realization finally hit.....well, let's just say it was a hot slice of pizza for this reader!
Do I recommend this book? Abso-friggin-lutely. Do I want to keep it forever? Abso-friggin-lutely. Do I recommend eating it with pizza? No. If you do, you may choke from laughing often! With a beautiful heroine and a hot, sexy Hero that will melt your socks off, this is a 5 star worthy start to a fantastic new series from who I dubbed the Queen of RomCon. Well done, Hunter. Well done. Bring on the next!

Ari Augustine (10 KP) rated Consumed (Firefighters, #1) in Books
May 4, 2020
The opening chapters were great, but I'm not sure I would call home about it.
Let's start with the good: who doesn't love a firefighter romance? I mean, there's hot and then there is HOT.
Immediately, I was given stakes. There were fires and lives on the line. Decisions that would alter a life forever. Amazing characters and the kind of tension I could shatter my little heart with, It was like I was walking a tightrope --and I was hooked. This was GREAT.
But then about 50% through the book, I realized I had no clue where the story was going. There was definitely a lag for me, a slump where the plot seemed to just hover and not really move forward. The whole premise promised in the blurb of Anne hunting down a killer kinda stalls. I found myself actively looking for action, but unable to find really any movement forward. By the end, much of the plot came together. However, it was too rushed. I truly feel this could have had better pacing to it and a better Act 2 to support the story.
That aside, the book is great for anyone who doesn't mind the hiccups and lags. But for me, I'm not sure I would read this again, which is sad because I do like some of Ward's other books.

Merissa (13654 KP) rated Finding You (Bewitching Women #3) in Books
Dec 17, 2018 (Updated Apr 12, 2023)
This is book 3 in the Bewitching Women series. This book is the story of Becca and Rome who both have issues caused by paranormal problems although neither of them know this to start with. The fireworks are in immediate evidence when Becca and Rome meet and it doesn't take much for the spark to turn into a flame. The attraction is instant and HOT!
Of course, like I said, they both have issues, not least of which is an ex-wife from hell and a witchfinder. Lost family members, relationships, death, friendship - this book just doesn't slow down from the moment you open it up. There is always something happening and usually Becca has a quip to go with the occasion.
There are so many adjectives that go with this book and most of them are paradoxical to each other - hot, sweet, contemporary, paranormal, friendship, romance, deceit, betrayal. It's all here.
This is very well-written with wonderful characters that leap from the page, including a brief cameo from old friends.
Definitely recommended! and I'm hoping for more to come in this series because I thoroughly enjoy it!
* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and the comments here are my honest opinion. *

Merissa (13654 KP) rated Hunger (Blood Rose Tales #2) in Books
Apr 14, 2023
This story is about Brianna, a mortal in love with a vampire, and Yolen, a detective vampire on the heels of a drugs kingpin and determined to keep Brianna safe, no matter the cost. Yolen has the potential to become a mastyr vampire but doesn't want it after he saw a friend and his mate get killed immediately after he 'levelled up'. Things are going downhill for Brianna and Yolen as they both want something different but Brianna can't understand why she keeps on pushing. Throw Mastyr Keynes into the mix and we get a hot, fast-paced story.
The characters are well-rounded and old favourites are either mentioned or make cameo appearances. This world becomes more real every time I read about it. The plot is fast-paced and with no holes, although the 'bad guy' is known almost from the start, it's not for the mystery that you read this book. It is romantic and funny, hot and sad.
Definitely recommended for all fans of Caris Roane and if you haven't read anything of hers, then I can highly recommend the Blood Rose series as a starting point.
