I was initially disappointed that a lot of the humor was seeing the main female character in so many humiliating pratfalls and fails, however, it turns around some with Thelma Rotter's strong female role and her hiring Debbie Reynolds' character as a female ranch hand instead of hiring a male ranch hand, Reynolds' determination in working hard to support her family instead of taking the easy way out and becoming someone's wife and relying on a man to support her, and Reynolds' eventually becoming sheriff of this frontier town. There is a lot of corny humor in this movie but it's worth a watch. It was great seeing Andy Griffith in the movie and as one of her love interests.

Psych You Out Again
Yes, another cop show... but with a twist. I’ll be honest, I was worried because this show was made during the same time other law enforcement shows were big. What could possibly make this show unique?
Well, it’s a quirky tv show that has good clean humor. Although, if you don’t like the 80’s, you won’t like the jokes. It was a clever fun show that I greatly enjoyed.
Although it had the cliche young man who needs to grow up as the main character, his need to get out of trouble with the law creates an opportunity for him to use the skills his dad trained him with. Being highly observant has never before been so fun.

I love historical fiction set in the 1920’s, so I was really excited to get an early copy of Teetotaled to check out. It did not disappoint! The heroine, Lola, has a very dry, sarcastic sense of humor which I adored, and this book kept me chuckling all the way through.

The mystery in Teetotaled was just as entertaining. It kept me guessing, and the cast of suspects and supporting characters made me feel like I was watching a BBC production of Jeeves and Wooster.

Cozy mystery fans as well as historical fiction aficionados who don’t mind a dose of humor are sure to enjoy this book!

Note: I received a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Antoine Fuqua recommended Scarface (1983) in Movies (curated)

Scarface (1983)
Scarface (1983)
1983 | Action, Drama, Mystery

"I love Scarface. First of all, it’s operatic and it’s funny, to me — Scarface is hilarious. It’s got amazing humor in it. I don’t know if everybody really got the humor when it first came out. It’s about the American Dream. I love the fact that it’s like, if they’re not gonna give it to you, you gotta take it. I’ve grown up watching all the gangster movies and that’s really the essence of all of them: if somebody’s not gonna give it to you, you’ve gotta kick the door down. That’s what that movie is really all about. Both of them [De Palma’s and Howard Hawks’ 1932 original] — both of them were about that. So that’s my love for Scarface; that’s the short answer."

"And Ninotchka. You know Ninotchka? I recommend it. It’s kind of a mess, too. It was before, you know, we got slick editing tools, so it kind of chops along. You can tell that they shot one thing one day, and then when her hair was a little longer, they shot it again. [laughs] It’s Ernst Lubitsch, wonderful director, not too many comedies, and I think that’s kind of the reason for the not-so-fluid flow of this film. But it’s Greta Garbo being funny – I’m a huge Greta Garbo fan – and it shows she has a sense of humor about herself, behind all that Swedish draw; she had a great sense of humor about herself. And I just love Melvyn Douglas; he’s wonderful in it."

Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle consistently nails that laugh because it is, quite simply, good, dumb, stoner fun. At least, the humor is dumb; the heroes, quite refreshingly, are not.

While this movie was entertaining, there really wasn't much to it. I recently re-watched it, and all I could think of during it was why I decided to waste my time watching it again. I love Ryan Reynolds, so the humor was good, but other than that... blah. It's completely overrated, as is Deadpool as a character.

I agree solid 7 film, not sure why so many high ratings. It's very short and plot very simple. It had a lot of potential but felt like a spin off film.
