graveyardgremlin (7194 KP) rated Kiss of the Night (Dark-Hunter, #4) in Books

Another great book in the Dark-Hunter series! The love story was nicely done, and both Cassandra and Wulf were great characters. My only minor complaint is that some of the dialogue was awkward and stilted, the modern references were unnecessary (Britney Spears, etc. I always hate that in a book, it makes it feel so dated), and the book had a few editing problems (for example, in Elysia, one of the Apollites was called a Daimon). Other than that, the book was terrific. I especially liked how Sherrilyn Kenyon made Apollites and Daimons more, for lack of a better word, human. I really can't believe how many more books Ms. Kenyon can write, and how many directions she can go into, with the world(s) she has created - it could go on forever - or at least we can hope so! :)

Michael Myers is back but unfortunately for him so is Laurie Strode!

I was on board with this as soon as I saw the trailer showing a more grizzled badass Laurie and that really is the highlight of this film. There are 2 twists in this film. 1 is quite unnecessary but leads to quite a glorious head squash which is the standout bit of gore. The second twist is excellent, paying homage to the original we get scenes similar to those from the first but roles reversed so that Laurie takes Michael's place and is stalking him showing her evolution from victim to prepared survivor/hunter. So yeah not a perfect film but a really solid effort. Hopefully leads to a new run of films with Laurie and her brood.

Dean (6927 KP) rated Fast Five (2011) in Movies
Feb 11, 2018
Fast Five star! The series has gone full circle and this one breathes new life into the series which got stronger with the 4th installment and is bettered by this one! We have even more of the cast from the earlier films including Ludacris and Tyrese Gibson from the second. Not to mention another surprise cameo after the credits to hint at a 6th film!
This one goes from street racing to heist film, but there are plenty of big stunts, fights, sexy girls, humour, a cool soundtrack and of course a range of awesome cars. I love that there are so many ties with the cast and events to the previous films. The Rock is a great addition to the series as the extreme FBI hunter sent to capture them. You couldn't ask for more from an action film!

Cynthia Armistead (17 KP) rated Wild Thing (Includes: Warriors of Poseidon, #1.5; Guardians, #1.5) in Books

I picked up this book solely because it contains "Hunter Kiss," the novella that precedes Iron Hunt. Liu certainly didn't disappoint me.
The other three novellas didn't suck as much as most romance-centered works do. Maggie Shayne's "Animal Magnetism" was working for me, but then a mention of a dog seeing a color brought my suspension of disbelief crashing down around me. "Paradise" by Meljean Brook was, eh, okay, I guess. I just couldn't really get excited, and the "plot" seemed a lame excuse to bring the man and woman together. Alyssa Day's "Wild Hearts in Atlantis" would have been much, much better without the all-too-common "Oh, I'm so unattractive!" crap from the female lead. I suppose it would be fine for romance fans.
