The Crystal Flame by Shirley Ponthieu McCoy
The Crystal Flame starts off as a tale about two opposites - fire and ice, or Finn and Lyssa as they are known in this book. For reasons unknown (at the time), Finn has travelled to find Lyssa. It turns out that he thinks that she could be his wife and partner. The one person who can help him control his flame, the same as he helps her control her ice. Working together, they both gain control over their powers, as well as fall in love. However, and it's quite a big however, Finn has left his own kingdom behind, in the care of his best friend and advisor, and his sick mother. And just what are they supposed to do when a coup takes place? Fight back of course, in any way they can!

This book held my interest from the very beginning, but it quickly became apparent that it wasn't 'just' a romance, but had action, adventure, subterfuge, betrayal, and all other wonderful things going on. There were no editing or grammatical errors that disrupted my reading flow. The story itself flowed, with a smooth pace from one setting and situation to the next. All of the characters, whether you liked or loathed them, were well-rounded and fully believable.

This story was a delight to read, and I absolutely recommend it for all #Fantasy fans out there.

This graphic novel starts with Thanos in full possession of the infinity gems and hence all-powerful. Determined to please the very high-maintenance Mistress Death, he starts doing what he thinks she would like him to do - starting off by eliminating half of the universe's population, rapture-style.
Thereafter, most of your favourite Marvel superheroes come together to plan an attack on Thanos to save the Earth from an ice age and the universe in general.
I had high hopes for this, the excitement of all of those supes ganging up was quite high. Sadly, it fell a little short.
It also feels quite dated and the dialogue is just utter guff.
The artwork at times is good, but in general a little slapdash in my opinion.

Animated films, I feel, do snow a lot better than the majority of live-action movies. Why? Well it’s much easier to render snow when you’re creating a film that is solely CGI, you don’t need to worry too much about realism or shooting on location.

Ice Age remains one of the all-time greats of the genre, and in my opinion, it’s a little underrated. It’s spawned numerous decent quality sequels and has a cracking cast and a light, witty script that’s perfect for adults and children alike to enjoy. The snow is part and parcel of the movie, so that’s why it avalanches its way to number four in this list. Get it, avalanches? I’m on a roll.

The second in the Dragonfury series and we focus on Rikar. He is an ice dragon who has the hots for a homicide detective. Unfortunately for him, she was captured and abused by the Razerbacks so Rikar has his work cut out for him.

This story goes a little bit further into the world of the Nightfuries although we do still hear about Bastian and Myst and how things are progressing for them. Rikar has an uphill struggle with his inner dragon as he feels the need to have vengeance on behalf of his mate but also knows that she needs closure for herself to heal.

This is an enjoyable series and I am looking forward to the next one. I still found the ending a bit sharp though.
