When Brooklyn Wainwright is found kneeling over the dead body of her former mentor, she immediately becomes a suspect. But Brooklyn thinks it may have to do with the cursed Faust he was restoring. Can she prove her innocence? The plot had lots of events but didn't move forward quickly. I loved the characters, however.

"One of the most beautiful films ever made. It’s a French movie with almost no dialogue, and I remember watching it in school several times. The innocence and the imagination of the young protagonist are threatened by bullies and adults, but the relationship he forms with his balloon gives us marvelous insight into childhood. I love how the film explores universal themes that can be enjoyed by audiences of all ages and backgrounds."

"The other movie that was really influential to me was Jaws. I was only 12, and that I thought was real! I even thought Charlie’s Angels was real! There was such an innocence in our culture when we were growing up, as if this was real life, and maybe there are cameras watching that. [I thought], “They’re not fake. These aren’t actors. This is real.” I don’t know why our parents weren’t helping us with that."
