One of the best war movies I have ever seen!

One of Ridley Scott's great films, Black Hawk Down tells the complicated story of American troops deployed in Somalia to take out a brutal warlord who has been committing genocide on his own people. When events do not go as planned, the troops are left in harm's way a lot longer than expected until reinforcements can be mobilized to assist them.

The intense combat footage, paralleled with the kinship the men gained by helpful one another through an almost no win situation is compelling, tragic and inspiring all at the same time.

The cinematography and realism in which the film was shot adds to the storytelling in a robust way and you really feel for the soldiers and their ordeal.

Fantastic film.

Nowhere near as good as it's live action companion

Seoul Station is an animated prequel to 'Train to Busan', one of my favourite movies in recent years. It is written and directed by the director of that movie too. Set in and around Seoul Station at night, the movie begins with an elderly homeless man who staggers towards the station, weak and bleeding from a wound. The beginning of the zombie apocalypse, which then unfolds throughout the night.

I found this movie to be nowhere near as interesting or as intense as Train to Busan. No characters of note to get behind and I didn't really like the animation style either. To be honest, it took me two or three sittings to complete it, I just found it a real struggle. Stick with the far superior Train to Busan.

Not for the faint hearted...

I have read many negative reviews about this movie not being true to the story and if I knew more about the terrible events of 2008, then I might have more of an opinion.

As it stands I thought it was a rollercoaster 2 hour plus ride that kept me and especially my wife on the edge of our seats.

Occasionally there were a few scenes that seemed a little corny or over dramatised for the big screen but that is usually the case.

The movie itself is very intense, emotional and there are scenes of very strong violence which are definitely not for the faint hearted.

Overall Hotel Mumbai is not an easy watch at times but if you are not easily offended then I would definitely recommend giving it a go.
