I am looking forward to the next one in the series. [One is Come] by [C.H. MacLean] is a wonderful mix of magic, adventure and lore. The characters suffer from the typical teenage angst that is common everywhere and similar growing pains. The difference is the issue of puberty brings with it a secret that normal kids don't deal with.

The only people around the kids that can understand are their parents who have taken an oath not to speak of the magic. The conflicting powers fighting for control over the kids and their gift leads to more intrigue. I am still not sure who is good and who is bad, or even if there is a good or bad. Any book that has magic and dragons is always a good bet.

All Reacher'd out
I've read pretty much every Jack Reacher book out there, and it gets to a point where enough is enough. And this book was it for me. When I first started reading them, the Reacher books were fun, interesting thrillers. 20+ books later, they're just getting tedious, predictable and uninteresting. Specifically in this book, there is no character development with Reacher, he's exactly the same in this as in every other book to the point where you can virtually predict his every move. The plot itself is also lacklustre and holds no real interest or intrigue. If you're a die hard Reacher fan then I'm sure you'll love this, but for me the only thing going for it is the fact that it was a quick easy read.

Dull
Considering the very decent cast and a not entirely unintriguing plot, I was hoping this might actually be quite good. Sadly, it wasn’t. The soundtrack was pretty good and the film started off well throwing us right into the action, it just went downhill after that. The cast are quite decent, and Oscar Isaac is always good to watch (although I really don’t rate Ben Affleck, as usual). The problem is that the film itself is fairly dull and predictable. It takes well over an hour (half of the run time) to get into any action whatsoever and even then it isn’t particularly entertaining. There was no tension or real intrigue, and it played out exactly as you’d expect. I was hoping for something similar to Sicario, but sadly this was nothing like it.

This series gets better and better!
It’s not often that the second book in a trilogy is better than the first, but I really feel that’s the case with this book. The machinations against one another (that’ll be EVERYONE!), the political intrigue - no-one trusts anyone else in this series, and for good reason! Nobody is particularly nice. The sexual tension between Jude and Carden reaches a whole new level, but even then, there’s no trust. I didn’t see ANY of the double crosses coming, but then I was so sucked in to the story, so it’s hardly surprising.
This is such a good series, and I have a year to wait for the last instalment!!
Many thanks to Readers First for my copy of this book, and for feeding the Faerie land addiction!

Absolutely phenomenal
I have a huge love for Sci Fi programmes and this one is up there with some of the best ever made.
What makes this stand out is that you dont have to love sci fi to enjoy this TV series. The story and characters make the whole experience so engaging you just want more. The intrigue and deception involved in the story and characters arcs and development throughout make it a joy to watch as you want to see what will happen with the characters next.
I wouldnhighlu recommend this to anyone, it's worth a try and is a must for ant sci fi fans out there. Cannot wait for season 4 and so happy that it got picked up after SyFy made the huge mistake of dropping it.

Captivating...
Bernie Madoff. What can you say? His Ponzi scheme was so complex, far-reaching and of epic proportions, it ruined many people's lives. Tore their life savings from them based on the betrayal of trust.

"Rain Man' director, Barry Levinson, successfully captures the intrigue, suspense, and also the interesting family dynamics in this compelling true story.

If the family dynamics are to be believed as his wife and sons did not know about any of the lies and fraudulent trading, they were either incredibly naive, incredibly stupid or just living the good life..

De Niro gives one of his most memorable recent performances and almost makes you sympathize with him. The actual reporter who wrote the book plays herself well in the film also.

Was Madoff a sociopath?

An interesting book, but not as great as I had hoped. Following an convicted murderess and the family who is forced to watch over her as she awaits her execution in early 1800's Iceland, there is plenty of intrigue teased out over the course of the novel. Did she do it? If so why? If not, then who? And as she relays details of her life leading up to the crime a sense of suspense does gradually build. Aside from the main plot, it is interesting to learn about the lives of farmers in the country at that time, and all of the hardships such a life entailed. The ending felt somewhat flat however, and didn't really adequately wrap up quite everything that had been brought up throughout the book.

I could not put this book down!!

From the start I was hooked on Lindsay’s story and needed to know what would happen next. There were enough secrets and intrigue to keep you guessing and wondering throughout the book Not just the identity of the boys from the video, but how Lindsay would react to each new situation, what secrets were being kept by who and why, how will this all end, and most importantly who can we trust.

The book was well written, however it is the first book in a trilogy so it does end with a cliffhanger. I could not wait to start book two (A Harmless Little Ruse) particularly as it was told from Drew’s perspective.

I would definitely recommend this book however it is only suitable for mature readers.

Makes you question life
Is fate entirely inexorable?
The Gold siblings, having gone to see a fortune teller who tells them the date they will each die attempt to A.) Forget, B.) Live life to the fullest beforw the inevitable or C.) Find a way to change it.

This book made me think, hard about what my life is leading up to. It made me wonder if that niggling fear of death and my attempts to avoid it were all in vain. It also gave me an appreciation for how I have lived my life thus far. This novel is beautiful and heart rending while somehow, in the end, giving hope that while we may just be along for the ride, life can be beautiful and worth the heartbreak.

I selected this book as one of my Amazon Kindle First Reads selections. It seemed like it could be a great read, with so much potential for suspense, intrigue and excitement. Instead, there was unnecessary exposition, sub-plots which were of no consequence to the story and characters with no redeeming qualities whatsoever. In what appeared to be an attempt to bring the tale to a conclusion, the actions of the characters swiftly moved from those of people desperate to resolve their situations to just plain ridiculous.

This appears to be part of a planned two-part series, with a second novel 'Before I Forget You' planned for 2019. With the seemingly half-hearted ending to this novel, I certainly wont be rushing to read the follow up.
