Blazing Minds (92 KP) rated Highlander (1986) in Movies
Nov 1, 2021 (Updated Nov 3, 2021)
I remember back in 1986 when the film was released, it was fresh and the story of Connor MacLeod (Christopher Lambert) and his journey from the time he was killed in the Scottish highlands in 1536 to the present day (1986) was one which fascinated me.
The immortal Highlander was on a journey for a fight for his life, the only way his immortality could be ended would be for his head to be removed, gruesome sounds I know, but nothing gory in this 80s movie.
In the end, “There can be only one”, a battle through time for the ultimate goal, “the prize”!
Highlander may have had four sequels, firstly the awful 2nd movie with its storyline that the “immortals” came from another planet, thankfully the “Renegade Version” was released some years later on DVD that was a much better cut of the film.

Stephen Miller (0 KP) rated Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in Books
Sep 29, 2017
Future literary classic
In 100 years time the Harry Potter books will be taught in schools and studied in universities the way current students study Dickens and Austen. Whilst not being the greatest piece of writing ever it is a perfect starting point for young readers to begin their journey through the myriad world's of books.

Tigs85 (21 KP) rated Bones- Season 1 in TV

Character dynamics (1 more)
Strong female lead
Bone lady
In the battle between brains and brawn, it's nice to watch brains come out on top in the looks department! Although the social ineptness of highly intelligent people is portrayed, it's refreshing to see the journey each character makes throughout each season. The storylines aren't as far-fetched as some may perceive, with the fantastic Kathy Reichs giving her anthropological insight to the script.

Oh my. What a film. A must see for all dog lovers. You follow the soul of one little dog as he is born, dies and is reborn over and over. I was sobbing my heart out through most of the film! The film takes you on Baileys journey as he navigates life eventually finding his way back to his owner Ethan. Such a beautiful film.

I do think others will enjoy it if they are okay with not getting closure at the end. It’s one of those I classify under read it for the journey, not the destination, although I am sure even the ending will please folks who love lyrical writing.

this story is fast paced and will take you on a journey, the story is filled with emotions, bringing together two people with broken pasts. the writer is fantastic and manages to suck you into the story and keep you gripped till the end. you will end up falling in love with the characters in this very emotional story.

Trish (4 KP) rated The Zen of Fish: The Story of Sushi, from Samurai to Supermarket in Books
Feb 8, 2018
A non fiction book that read more like a fiction novel. I learned so much about sushi and fish. I now have a much better understanding when I go to my local sushi restaurant. I enjoyed the characters and following their journey through sushi school. If you have any interest in sushi, pick this up. You learn the facts while getting to know the characters. best of both worlds.
