More than music ( chasing the dream book 1)
By Elizabeth Briggs
They can't resist each other, but their secret romance might tear their band apart....
Music major Maddie Taylor secretly dreams of a louder life, but geeky girls like her don't get to be rock stars. That is, until tattooed singer Jared Cross catches her playing guitar and invites her to join his band on The Sound, a reality TV show competition.
Once on the show, Maddie discovers there's more to Jared than his flirty smile and bad boy reputation. With each performance their attraction becomes impossible to ignore, but when the show pressures them to stay single, they're forced to keep their relationship secret.
As the competition heats up, Jared will do whatever it takes for his band to win, and Maddie must decide if following her dream is worth losing her heart.
Ok this is not something I would have picked up myself but the author was recommended to me by a friend It was a different series that was recommended but I always like to start from the first series. So I gave it a shot and I got a pleasant surprise! It was a sweet heart warming story of friendship l, love and the cost of a reality show. It’s characters were likeable and the story easy to follow. I will definitely carrying on with the series. Just goes to show you may not normally read a certain book but they are all worth a try!

Spells of Breath and Blade ( Tarot Academy book 2)

I spent my whole life believing magick was a curse - and that I didn't have enough of it to worry about, anyway.
Turns out I was wrong on both counts.
I'm so much more than a magick-blessed Academy student. I'm an Arcana Witch, bound to a sacred order whose sole duty is to protect magick - and one another - at all costs.
Thankfully, I'm not alone.
My Arcana magick brought four fiercely loyal, impossibly sexy Arcana mages into my life.
But it also brought trouble.
Corrupt Academy officials. Mysterious attacks stripping students of their power. And the terrifying Dark Arcana - five insanely powerful ancient beings desperate to reclaim the magick they believe is their sole birthright... and destroy the rest of us.
Our best shot at defeating them is to track down the hidden Arcana artifacts - sacred Tarot relics that bind and balance all magick. But to do that, we'll have to embark on a dangerous otherworldly journey - one that will change us in ways even the Tarot can't predict.
Surviving my first month at Arcana Academy was no easy feat, but compared to what's coming?
That was training day.
This is the real deal.
And the fight is just beginning.
Honestly not much happens until the last chapter. It’s mainly Stevie dealing with the aftermath and putting her relationships right. It was an ok read.

Bound by love, drawn by magick, happily ever after won’t come without a fight.
Looking for love, four friends cast a spell. Thrust into a terrifying new world, they find themselves fighting for their lives, until help drops in. Now, alongside the Griffon Guard, they must learn to use powers they never knew they had, to save a world they never knew existed
Love might be an option, but only if they defeat an ancient darkness hell bent on ruling the world...
So I almost gave up on this book 3 times but I thought no give it a chance. It was incredibly hard to read for the first 10 chapters and you never knew what character was talking as it jumped from one to the other with any indication. This drove me crazy!!! But you can feel the authors passion in this book so I thought it deserved a good chance. As you can see it took me a few nights to read. However after saying all the negative there are some major positives!!
The characters are likeable the story line is very good and shows so much promise! Towards the end you become slightly hooked so much so the bloody thing ends on a cliffhanger that had me shouting nooooooo! I do recommend to any readers please stick with it!

⭐️⭐️
I have three months to prove I can control my powers. This time, I am going to have to do it alone.
The…incident…at Homecoming left the New York Academy of Mages reeling. I don’t mind that Whitney fears me, so long as it means she leaves me alone. But I don’t like the feeling that my best friend might be beginning to become afraid of me as well.
They aren’t the only ones acting strangely.
The principal is suddenly acting on my behalf even though he was the one to try and get my powers stripped in the first place. Draven says he’s out of the mage crime syndicate for good, but even I know that those kinds of organizations don’t let mages like him go. Not really, not ever. I want to believe that the affection Flynn is showing me is genuine, but instead I get the feeling that he’s keeping a secret from me.
Even Kendall is acting distant and brooding, and I don’t know why. Cedric is the only one among them who’s acting normal—until I suggest his father’s uncharacteristic kindness might be rooted in something sinister.
There are plans at work here that I am only beginning to understand. Even now, with everything I know, it may already be too late.
I don’t like giving books 1 star so I settled for 2. It wasn’t awful but it was brilliant either started off on them I just got bored.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Born with the ability to communicate with the dead, few things take Mana by surprise. But when a canis lopes into her life, announcing himself as the long-dead father of a childhood friend, she's shocked. To make matters worse, he has a dire message that she alone can deliver.
Now Mana must face Vaughn, the male who inspired one too many girlish fantasies, and impart the spirit's message--without acknowledging her source--so the soul can be laid to rest.
With rumors of a burgeoning clan war setting his nerves on edge, the last thing Vaughn needs is for an innocent to get caught in the crosshairs. But the woman he remembers as an awkward girl refuses to leave his side until he's heard her out. That's not the only change in her that calls to him. Her kindness soothes his battle-scarred soul--and he craves her in ways a warrior shouldn't.
When they are both captured, they learn of an even greater threat. The plague devastating the southlands has come to his clan home. And his best--and only--chance to keep his people alive is the female who walks among the dead.
I’m really starting to enjoy this series it’s getting better and better. This was very my favourite so far I love the unique clans and the story is so interesting. It shows the harshness as well as the good. There is so much packed into a short book.

So you guys remember the naked man in the alley?
Now he’s my mate along with one of his friends. I might also have my eyes on the other two as well because why not? Oh yeah forgot to mention, turns out I’m a werewolf, hence the mating thing. Not only that but I’m the only Alpha Female in existence, which makes sense why that asshole of a fake fiance wanted to keep me for himself.
*Girl you suck at explaining what's going on.*
Shut up I’ve got this handled. Managed to do it last time without you.
Anyway…
Thanks to the four men who came crashing into my life, I was rescued and kept safe. Now I’m on a plane to who the hell knows where while the guys keep alluding to the fact that I have an important role to play in their world. Am I ready to step into whatever they have waiting for me? I’ve only been a werewolf for two weeks and still have so much to learn.
That was so much better than book 1! Hopes wolf is just brilliant I loved it the first time round but this was better. The story had an interesting take I loved her different mates and the pack she now leads. The ending was a cliffhanger but a really good one. Definitely moving on to book 3!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The strongest net is no match for destiny.
Daraja has grown up watching her brothers journey down the river on the traditional Deinopidae rite of passage. Each returned with riches from their travels, and lovers with whom to share their lives.
Now she has reached the age where she would strike out on her own to seek her fortune - if she were male. Instead, she is expected to sit patiently, weave her nets and wait for the river to bring a husband to her.
Patience, however, has never been her strong suit.
Brynmor haunts the forest surrounding the city of Cathis, his disembodied spirit inextricably bound to the wild canis roaming his lands. Until the day he stumbles across a brazen trespasser in his woods.
Compelled to step in when the canis suspect her of poaching one of their own, Brynmor fears he has lost a piece of his ragged soul to the feisty, adventure-seeking female. And when the canis confront the real poachers, he is forced to choose which life to sacrifice. Hers... or his own.
This series is becoming one of my favourites I absolutely love all the different clans and all these characters. This was a novella of Brnymor and Daraja story, she is from a clan we are yet to explore more of, it features the Canis which are just one of the creatures we are learning more about. I see them as wolf like creatures. Looking forward to more.

What do you do when you discover that your entire life has been a lie, that you were living solely to serve the purpose of another?Seventeen year old Grace Ayre is heartbroken. She's still reeling from the devastating loss of two people whom she loved and the realisation that her life has never really been her own.Lies and deceptions are all she's ever known but now the truth is out. The world she thought she knew is only half the story, and the more she hears from the other side, the more she realises she is nothing more than a clueless little girl. She must reach her eighteenth birthday in order to fulfil a prophecy and end a war that has raged since the dawn of time. There's just one problem...the Guardians are standing in her way. As a band of despicable assassins without conscience, they will stop at nothing to end Grace's life and prevent the prophecy from being realised. If she thought falling hard for a demon was her biggest problem then she was sadly mistaken.Turning eighteen has never been so important.
This was the second in the series and while I did enjoy it and we learned a lot more about Grace and what she has to face I wasnt as gripped as I was with book 1. I can’t exactly pinpoint why though and that is so annoying I just found myself pushing through this one.

⭐️⭐️⭐️
Her entire life, Harlow has been the cuckoo in another bird’s nest. With an unreliable junkie for a mother and an unknown father, her foster family, the kind, successful, and generous Bostons, are the brightest spot in her life. But even with a foster family like Harlow’s, there are some things money can’t buy- like the ability to fit in with the shallow socialites who act like her lack of pedigree is contagious. Now that she’s finished college and her veterinary degree, Harlow’s life was supposed to take off. She was supposed to get a job and create a life away from the petty drama of the wealthy elite. But when her mother dies and a life-changing secret is revealed, Harlow finds herself flying across the country to face an uncertain future that Kai, Holden, Jaxon, Thomas, Jacinta, Declan, and Oliver are going to make sure she won’t accept.
This was hit and miss from me and is possibly more of a 2.5⭐️ than a 3 . There was just something so annoying about sections of the book like it was rushed but then other parts we’re really good. And those siblings really are awful people. The conversation between the grandmother and Oliver was a bit bloody weird too I mean she’s not a piece of meat!! You will understand if you’ve read it or will when you come to it.
