A good debut from Renee Knight
At surface level, this is a really good psychological suspense/thriller book. However, you will find flaws if you look deeper. I couldn't really relate to any characters, I didn't particularly like or become attached to any of them, but the multi-layered family conflict was good and realistic.

A brilliant film and great ending....for now at least to this trilogy. Dark, gritty and brutal it doesn't feel like a comic book action hero film. It's more a harsh crime thriller! I thought Anne Hathaway was well cast as Catwoman as is Tom Hardy as Bane. The only problem I had was understanding everything Bane said through his face mask, at times the voice doesn't seem to match the villain? Only small minor gripes though, still I have to add The Dark Knight is still my favourite of the 3 with this a close second.
This is one Medieval story that I wasn't a big fan of. The wording was confusing along with the story line itself. It was one of the more religious texts that I have had to read for my Medieval Literature class, and since I'm not the biggest fan of that kind of story, it obviously wasn't my favorite. This is possibly the same poet as the "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight" poet, but I enjoyed that one more.
I recommend this to people who like Medieval Literature that has heavy ties to Christianity and convoluted plots.

Sir Gawain and the Green Knight is a medieval alliterative romance poem that is surprisingly deep for it's time. I really enjoyed it. The most striking thing about it to me was Gawain's character. He is a dynamic character which is not typical during that era of Literature. The imagery is fantastic. I chose the translation by Simon Armitage in audio book format. I really wanted to hear the poem spoken aloud, so this version was a great choice for me, and the introduction was very helpful.

Why did I wait so long to read this book?
Why did I wait so long to read this book? Maybe I was afraid taking up the mantel of the winter knight would ruin a great character. Oh me of little faith. Butcher did a fantastic job. Humorous and heavy he actually answers some questions while he teases you over more. He even does some wonderful world building of the nevernever (14 books in and he still surprises) I found out more about the Fae in this book than any of his others.
