Fables & Fairy Tales to Cross Stitch Véronique Enginger is a wonderful collection of fairy tale themed projects with stitching charts and finishing suggestions. It's perfect for those with knowledge of cross stitching and those interested in stitching up their favorite classic fairy tales.
The book is easy to use, organized from which are the fables section and the fairy tales section of the book. Every project is in a visual format. A very straightforward and simple guidance, very nice visual patterns book, which you can easily follow and copy the design exactly. I love the designs and think the author did a great job reviving the fables and fairy tales of many others and my own childhood with these beautiful cross stitch patterns.

I really like how this was presented: Each case was described, evidence was provided as to who Brown believed was the likely suspect, and the status of the case where it sits now was noted (basically, dormant). I just received my Master's in Forensic Psychology, so reading how Brown became a profiler and how she uses her knowledge to work on "cold" cases was both intriguing and helpful for me. I especially liked her idea of creating a suspect bank through ViCAP that could be accessed across the nation, in the event that a suspect in one crime crosses jurisdictions and is interviewed in relation to another crime. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in the Forensic Psychology or Criminology fields, or for those who like such TV shows as the "Law and Order," "Criminal Minds," or "CSI" franchises.
This is a wonderfully comprehensive book for anyone wanting to learn, or for anyone with basic knowledge who wants to expand their skills.
As someone who can crochet and often gets asked for help to learn I was pleasantly surprised by this book. Not only are there the usual how to make this stitch, but every stitch has a project to make so you can thoroughly practice than skill before moving on. There is also a mistakes guide... I often get sent pictures titled "what have I done wrong" and this book even has sections about the common mistakes, brilliant for someone who doesn't have a crocheter on the other side of social media.
Another nice surprise was the addition of tunisian crochet, great to see it in there when it has such a similar skill set.
All round a very good book.

Was I supposed to be shocked and appalled?
I saw this movie nearly two weeks ago, and I'm still not sure how I feel about it. There was something very Shakespearean about it in general, and when there were soliloquies being recited.
I mean, was I supposed to be shocked about what went on with Cheney? Did people love this film because they felt like it revealed a ton that apparently isn't general knowledge? I don't really understand the hype, nor the 'unbelievably' in the whole story, but I also worked in politics for a bit and studied history, so nothing surprised me.
If you don't know much about politics, I guess it would be mind-blowing. To me, this was completely over-hyped, and the only reason it's getting so much press is because Christian Bale got fat again.

Only the second book in Terry Pratchett's Discworld series to feature the City guard (in a total of eight such books, and at least one short story), this takes place a year or so after he events of "Guards! Guards!", and is probably best described as a police procedural/whodunnit crossover.
This, to the best of my knowledge, is also the first book to feature Leonard of Quirm (albeit in a small role), and expands upon the characters first introduced in "Guards! Guards!" as well as upon the themes of racial (or speciesist) intolerence and bigotry. Like "Guards! Guards!", and unlike some of the later City Watch novels, Corporal Carrot once again takes a central role in the narrative: a position later filled by Vimes, with Carrot himself becoming more of a background figure.

(I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion). I enjoyed reading this book. The depth of the author's research is evident from the beginning. The gangster-speak, the religious references, the anatomical knowledge and more all add up to a thoroughly entertaining reading experience. The story starts as a typical mob tale...gangster kills good guys, gets shipped to another "family", gets new identity, etc. Where it gets interesting for me is when said gangster, Sal, is introduced to his new life. You can slowly see the battle between "good & evil" grow, like his old life and new life are fighting for control. The other characters are just as genuine, each playing a specific role in Sal's transformation. I'm looking forward to catching up with Sal and the gang in the next installment of the series.
