I found this difficult to read as the language and tone is quite complex and poetic and I was looking for an easy fun read. The characters seemed real enough but I found the storyline jumped around erratically and left me confused a lot.

Meaty read but great characters
The language makes it quite hard going and it is a little slow paced at times however the mixture of feeling it stirs up for the characters is worth it especially the monster.

"I moved to New York in 1982, and I didn’t know any of those kind of people but that kind of world was going on. It’s a brilliant film; the poetry of the language and everything else — it’s just a great film about art."

"I'm not sure which language it's best to watch this in. Adjani speaks French. Shelley Winters and Melvyn Douglas are American. Polanski is Polish, but I expect he can play the part in any tongue. One of my favorites, one of this master's best."

"I debated between Cervantes’ ‘Don Quijote’ and ‘Martín Fierro,’ because they both are great classic epic stories in the Spanish language, but ended up choosing José Hernández’s great poetic work because of my early connection with it as a child growing up in Argentina."

"The most visual language of any book I know. Which is odd since this is a book about the bardo — the disintegration of the self and the transformation of energy. I love the imagery and it reminds me that every minute of life is the bardo!"
