Hard to read
This book took almost three weeks for me to finish, whenever I am a really big bookworm. It's written is a modern way, with modern language, but really slowly taking into the action. The book is about 370 pages and until the last 20 pages you won't even have a clue what's really going on.

A novel with so much depth.
This is an intelligent book which is well crafted and written with such beautiful language. I loved the intensity between the cousins and the complicated relationship between the dead and the alive. The author knows how to bring characters to life and she does it so well. I can't wait to read her next novel. Buy this one. Seriously, it's magic.

Literary Gold
Jane Austen is a literary bad ass. I've read this book a hundred times and always find something new when I read it. Her knack for language nuances....unparalleled.

Interesting read, sensitively deals with some tricky subjects for children. Good vocabulary and language choices throughout. An ideal book for UKS2 as either side class read or an English focus on fantasy stories.
