Superb
A magnificent and sometimes shocking novel. Powerful and it grabs you from the first page and doesn’t let go. Funny, tragic, gut wrenching, and one of the classic works of modern literature.

I read this for one of my classes in Medieval Literature. There were a lot of very interesting stories and poems in here. If you want a whole range of different Medieval classics, I definitely recommend checking this out!

"A great work of literature and an extraordinary cautionary tale, this story has much to teach us about psychology, politics and history. More than ever, it can allow us to look at ourselves and our rulers with open eyes."

"Ritwik Ghatak was India’s Sam Peckinpah: drunk, bellicose, brilliant. He brought a Bengali sense of literature and sadness to his work. You’ll maybe only understand half this film at first (certainly the case for me), but its richness overwhelms."

"A young woman suffers a breakdown while pursuing her dream of being a magazine editor. Plath made it possible for women to confront our anger and make literature out of it. She made it acceptable to declare our rage."

"Homer’s epic isn’t just a foundational text in Western literature, it also makes me feel connected to my Mediterranean (Maltese) roots. The Maltese island of Gozo, where my people probably originated, claims to be the locale of Calypso’s cave."

I'm an avid reader, though my tastes have changed over time. I used to read true crime non fiction, but I have moved into mystery literature. (Though I don't typically read series.) I also love Margaret Atwood and Alice Munro.
