It is hard to believe that it has been fifteen years since audiences were introduced to Xander Cage (Vin Diesel) in “XXX”. Ice Cube continued the series with “XXX: State of the Union” in 2005 but since then the series has been dormant with the occasional rumor of a new film arising.
The new film follows the long assumed deceased Xander Cage returning to action in the XXX program when a group of highly skilled operatives attack a meeting and steal a device known as Pandora’s Box which allows the users unlimited access to personal data and satellite control such as being able to use thousands of orbiting devices as weapons of terror by crashing them into cities the world over.
In a race against time, Cage must assemble a team of operatives and discover the location of the device and obtain it at any cost.
Things become more complicated as the investigation unfolds and Cage and his crew soon find themselves battling enemies from multiple sides which results in several over the top action sequences and stunts which have been a staple of the series.
The supporting cast is very strong especially Donnie Yen and Tony Jaa as well as the sadly underused Samuel L. Jackson.
The biggest issue with the film is that it takes insane liberties with the plot even by action film standards and seem little more than a device to get the cast into one action scene after another without any thought to logic or coherency. Even by action film standards it is all over the place and takes some great leaps of logic. The dialogue is often groan inducing at Diesel seems to be at times walking through his performance until he is required to do something of a physical nature.
The action is the saving grace of the film as the cast makes their action scenes a ballet of chaos as they nimbly smash, shoot, and destroy everything in their path which is essentially what fans of the series want in the end.
It has been reported that a new film in the series is already planned by the studio which would be a welcome adventure as it would be nice to see this crew back in action. My only wish is that they are given a script that is worthy of the assembled talent.

Alright but Not Much Better than the First Book
After reading the second book, I've decided two things. Number one; Cassie is an awful main character and number two; jumping between multiple points of view kills the story. Cassie irritates me beyond belief, she's shallow, self absorbed, and makes for some cringe worthy moments that almost made me stop reading. Evan already seems to defy every piece of logic and when you find out more about his kind in this installment seems even more impossible, not to mention his ability not to die borders on stupid. Ringer is probably the only reason I continued to read it, she's an interesting character that for me captured exactly the accurate emotional response to what is happening around her...even if there were some moments with her character that were just as shallow as Cassie. The storyline itself is a masterpiece, but the characters let it down. The 5th Wave was a challenge to read, this one not so much as the story doesn't solely focus on Cassie, I hope the next one is better...

So... this film is adapted from a game and I did like the whole animus style BUT I prefer the games.
Not saying it's boring because I did end up watching it all just to see what happened next, but not like an exciting feeling to see what's going to happen just to see if my guesses were in fact true.
The logic behind the animus I think was presented as well as it could be.
The actor I think fitted his role well and there was the odd big name in the film.
Even though there was action it still felt like there was a calmness to the film, like there was the same tone of voices throughout the film, hard to explain what I mean.
I think the story could have been explained a bit better than it had been.
It's one of those films eere once you've watched it, you would probably not watch it again for a while maybe a year or so.

Dingbat horror movie from him what made Get Out. A nice middle-class family goes on holiday to their beach house, but soon disturbing memories are a-stirring and their evil doppelgangers are blocking up the driveway.
One is often tempted to wonder what inspired a particular film. In this case I would hazard a guess it was somebody giving Jordan Peele $20 million and him vaguely remembering a nightmare he had the previous week, which (lacking any other ideas) he turned into a script. Being terrorised in your home by a brutish double is a great idea, but difficult to get a full-length movie out of, which may be why the film largely abandons logic and plausibility in its second half in favour of the fractured reality of a bad dream.
That said, I enjoyed the sheer madness of the escalating storyline even though I didn't honestly find it that scary. Some great performances and some good jokes along the way, but it feels more like an experiment in pushing narrative boundaries than a serious attempt at a horror movie. Nutty but fun.

Boring if you can't think on your feet.
Coup, along with other bluffing games such as the Resistance, have been very popular games for groups, as they do not require much of an introduction and people can play a game pretty quickly. Whilst I appreciate people may love this game, it does have flaws. Unlike Resistance, each player plays the game solo and therefore cannot hide behind the logic of others. This game requires you to input at every step of the way and, if you're trying to bluff, you must always stay ahead and remember how other people have played, which can be uncomfortable and lead to player elimination. For those who are not too quick with their responses or have a poor poker face, this game is frustrating and will lead to elimination...which in turn is not great for the remaining players as this reduces the staying power of the game. Whilst I enjoyed playing this game a handful of times, none of my friends want to play it any more. We prefer the Resistance:Avalon for our bluffing fix.

Laughably bad
I will readily admit to not being a massive fan of the Friday the 13th sequels, especially not some of the more modern ones, and this is possibly one of the worst sequels there is. All manner of logic or plot continuity disappears out of the window for this one. It’s ridiculous from the very start and just gets more laughable as the film goes on. The cast go from the awful and annoying (most of the ‘students’ who’s names I couldn’t even bring myself to pay attention to), to the boringly average. Even the pairing of Lexa Doig and Lisa Ryder, an Andromeda “reunion” as such despite this coming during the time Andromeda was airing isn’t enough to keep this film being anything other than terrible. Lexa Doig especially is given so little to do in this which is a shame as the beginning makes out like she could be a proper kickass hero. And don’t get me started on Jason’s upgrade later on in the film...
This is one of those films that is so bad it’s vaguely entertaining, but not in a good way.
