Pretty standard, but reasonably enjoyable
Standard issue murder and revenge story, which sees Jackie Chan play a dad who sees his daughter blown up in a terrorist attack in London before going after government officials and shady henchmen to try and find the truth.

I was puzzled how a Chinese, London businessman would have been able to pull off all the things that happen in the movie, but that is explained to some extent.

It was nothing ground breaking but worth watching to pass a couple of hours if you just want a bit of action and nothing much else...

Bartimaeus prequel, which moves the setting from modern-day(ish) London to ancient Israel, largely set in the courts of King Solomon and dealing with his relationship with the Queen of Sheba.

It's still the same 'world', in that magicians hold the power, with their power itself flowing from the captured spirits and djinni who must carry out their wishes - the wise-cracking Bartimaeus being one such.

This was an enjoyable read, mainly for the different setting after the London of the originals, that did not overstay its welcome. Parts of it, however, were quite obvious from a long (long) way away.
