"They were a fantastic live band and I saw them loads of times. Watching the way Alex was onstage taught me to let things flow and not be so tight-arsed. He improvised a lot. The Sensational Alex Harvey Band had a sense of threat – this feeling that he was a gangster, a bit of a hard guy, a bit shifty. There was a sense of menace in their stage performance, with Zal Cleminson dressed as this wacky clown, which was unnerving. We went through a phase like that – Paul used to get made up, half his face white and half black – when we did a lot of theatrics and a lot of that comes from Alex Harvey. I used to nail Steve Dawson’s DMs to the stage and he’d lean forward because he was nailed to the floor at the back."

"I actually first discovered a lot of the films on this list, like News from Home, when I lived in New York, next to Kim’s Video, a time when I went a lot to Anthology Film Archives and Lincoln Center. Chantal Akerman has always been a big inspiration for me, and News from Home was the first film of hers that I saw. Watching it was so inspiring and made me feel like I could make movies myself, because it’s so simply done yet so affecting—just letters and an empty city. I have a very strong relationship with my mother, and she also used to send me letters when I lived in New York. I discovered Jeanne Dielman later, and a lot of the screen tests I did for Invisible Life were taken from frames from that film."

The first one was a lot better for me. It had an engaging plotline--whether it took me 100 pages to get into it or not--whereas this...well i didn't quite see the point of the book. It didnt really have much of a plot and rehashed a lot of what happened in the previous book. The only difference really was the appearence of John and Lara's--I'm going to be a rebel and just call her that instead of the double barrel--growing? feelings for him. It was a lot like the first book with Lara being unable to decide what her feelings were for either boy and her jealousy of Genevieve getting in the way.

Kitty was the only highlight. She's wise beyond her years and fun.

I won't be reading the last book.

Underdeveloped True Crime Story
Unlike a lot of the episodic true crime stories that have been on Netflix recently this one takes a one off 91 minute movie approach which leaves you wanting for more details and info. Although going for a whole full series would probably be pushing it, I really feel this story needed a bit more development. A mini series would've been preferable to the too rapid rattling through of a series of hard to believe events.

It’s pretty much all told via interviews with Jan (the victim) and her family with little from other sources. Considering most of it comes from their lips and a lot sounds incredibly naive (even for 1970s) it has a very hard to believe feel to it. Needed a lot of development on some points barely mentioned.

Some action scenes are pretty decent.
This is a poor movie overall. (1 more)
Not a lot of fresh idea here.
Number 5.....long awaited, or should have sunk to the bottom of the ocean?

I love to read pretty much anything but lately have been reading a lot of Thrillers. I have never been involved in a book club but would like to try one. Do you have any recommendations for me?

Loved it
I really enjoyed this movie. There is a lot of dark humor, and action. It also had a fast pace that helped to keep it interesting. I hope they make a sequel in the same style.

Hmmm average sci-fi/thriller, it's has ok effects nothing mind blowing but the story doesn't really go anywhere?! It could have been a lot better but ends up being a tame version of Species without the action!

This book was just ok in my opinion, I liked it but also there were a lot of flaws. I didn't completely understand what was happening at certain parts to be honest as it took a weird turn.
