"After our son Walker couch-surfed in Rio last year, we felt obliged to take in one of the Brazilian friends he met. She brought a copy of Sebastião Salgado’s beautiful but expensive book Genesis. We felt bad because she doesn’t have a lot of money and also because it is in Portuguese. However, 95% of the book consists of Salgado’s brilliant photographs, which need no translation. It seems that the people with the least often give the most."

Hmmm ... I'm not really sure what to say about this one.

I listened (rather than read) the audiobook version, so - mainly - had it on in the background, whilst doing other stuff.

That might say a lot about it (that I never really give it my full attention): on the other hand, there were some nuggets of information that I picked up whilst listening to it.

I'm not sure if I'll be looking for any other similar works.

"Now, my favorite films as a more mature person, when I was learning about what the director is and does, probably a lot of them were Howard Hawks movies, like Only Angels Have Wings and Rio Bravo. In Hawks’ world, Only Angels Have Wings and Rio Bravo are his visions of adventure stories with male groups, and men and women’s relationships, and life and death and danger. He’s developed that idea throughout his career. Those are just his beliefs."

"I found this really unnerving when I first read it at age eight. There’s a lot of talk lately about “kids’ books for adults.” But this is an adult book for kids—a realistic, complex, and not at all dumbed down look at a girl who wants more than anything else to be a writer. When I grew up and learned that Fitzhugh was a lesbian, that explained a bit more about why Harriet resonated so much for me."

"I absolutely love this film. Robert Mitchum is incredible as a serial killer roving about in the guise of a preacher. It's the only film Charles Laughton directed, which, on the evidence of this film, is a real shame, as he seemed to have a real flair for it. There are a lot of great performances, and you can't help but wonder if Laughton’s vast experience as an actor helped him get the best out of his cast."

Not quite what I thought
I'm not sure this was exactly what I thought it was going to be. I expected a lot more humour when seeing the cast but I felt it was quite serious with a deep underlying story. The stories were quite good, I particularly liked he Portland Hotel episode. I felt towards the end it got quite silly and the solution seemed very clipped.

Book was slow, the first 30% went pretty quick, but the rest seemed to drag on. The steamy scenes began to get annoying as they seemed to take over the story, and not in a way I enjoyed. Claudia was a character I just couldn't make myself like and Sean got on my nerves. I skimmed the last 60%, got the gist of how it all ended, and I wish I'd just stopped a lot earlier.

Great story
As with a lot of marvel late, it is very long and a bit too much filler. (0 more)
An epic saga nears an end.
This was almost the perfect way to start the end of the epic saga that the marvel cinematic universe has been thus far. A little too much fill and a couple of plot holes but overall this was an amazing film and well worth the wait.

In case you've missed my previous reviews of this series; this isn't one of my favourite but it has always kept me reading and the stories seem to get better with each one.

The plot thickened a lot in this one with the leader of the Reapers making an appearance and let me tell you that was a bit of a shock.

<spoiler>I'm sad to see Logan leave, if only for a little while, too.</spoiler>
