Unoriginal
I'd heard a lot of good things about this film, but sadly it didn't live up to expectations.

Its very much a case of having seen this type of film before many times, and done better. This is just your average run of the mill boxing film that follows a similar story to those that have come before it. Jake Gyllenhaal puts in a good performance but I think him and the rest of the cast are vastly underused. The film itself is very predictable and seems to be lacking in any sort of emotion. Its watchable, but sadly instantly forgettable.

Interesting but a little too ambiguous
This is a strange film. For the most part it’s a very interesting gothic drama, and creates a lot of intrigue as you try to figure out what’s going on. Sam Claflin and Rachel Weisz do very well, but I found the film and the goings on a little too ambiguous. The ending left me a little unsatisfied and it wasn’t exactly unpredictable either. For me, the most frustrating thing was how quickly he fell for Rachel’s charms. Literally within minutes of her arriving he seemed to lose all of his prior hostility - not exactly realistic.

Amazon Kindle for PC
Easy to use and very customizable, I love my Kindle for PC. I have had it for about thirteen years. Each time I have to buy a new computer because my old one died, I download my Kindle off of my Amazon account right away. My books are in the cloud, and I have safely downloaded them to my new computer with no problems.

Great originals! (0 more)
Netflix is, of course, a dominant force in entertainment. The original series and movies are awesome. It's great to be able to binge my favorite shows like Friends, and they are uploading shows as soon as they end on air quicker and quicker. The only real downfall is that they don't have agreements with several networks still, so a lot of shows that I love aren't available. I would love to completely cancel cable and every other subscription I have, but I can't until things like Modern Family and Food Network's best can be seen on Netflix.

While the book had a good plot and kept you guessing as to who done it, I found the chapters a bit choppy. There didn't seem to be a transition from one scene to another, which made me have to re-read sections to see if I missed a page somewhere. There were also a lot of characters to try to follow and no real introduction to them. This is the first book in the series and I am told that they get better, so I am willing to read the second in the series as the first one wasn't totally bad.

I think this book has a little bit for everyone. The main character Leila has a whole lot going on. She has grown up moving from foster home to foster home. She has just been adopted, which she is struggling with. She has one of the more common forms of depression, seasonal affective disorder. She hears voices in her head calling out for help. Mixed in with her troubles is her love for the environment. Overall it is a well written book, and I enjoyed reading it. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book from NetGalley.

I have a lot of favorite movies, often when I describe a movie, if I loved it, I describe it as my favorite. My friend pointed that out a few years ago when I was telling her about this movie, and it made me think.
This movie is legitimately one of my top ten favorite movies.
Penelope is a modern, cute fairy tale about Penelope, who happens to have a pig nose because of a curse.
This movie has a ton of random actors in it: Christina Ricci is the title character. Youngish James McAvoy (<3), Reese Witherspoon, and Peter Dinklage.

"Girl in the Mirror" is one of those Jackie Collins-lite books; a mixture of Lifetime movies, soap operas and Jacqueline Susanne. I occasionally have an urge for such type a book and I have to say that this was an entertaining one! The story was rather engaging, the characters were just about as good as they could be for this type of book (I don't mean that disparagingly in any way), and it was an easy, breezy read. Yes, a lot of it is implausible and the surprises really aren't, but it's pure fun and fluff! :)

I wanted so much more from this.
A lot of people I know loved this movie so I went in with really high expectations and for me I kind of just split this movie in two. On one side the plot was okay but I got pretty bored since it wasn't all that interesting. And then on the other hand you have the visuals which were brilliant they were both bright and vibrant and dark and creepy at the same time and while I can't tell you what most of the plot was I can say there were some amazing visuals.

Didn't Match Up
This book is about first love, and having a physical relationship for the first time. Normally I enjoy cute love stories, but this was a little flat. The topic and themes were solidly YA, but the writing style is more middle grade. This made the characters come across as younger than what they were. I think if the book had focused more on the emotional aspects of their relationship it would have been better. Unfortunately it was mostly about their sex life. The one up side is that the book did put a lot of emphasis on safe sex.

I just have recently read it. I try to rate things based off of the intended audience, however I grew up in a house hold that was always very open about sex. That could have made a difference. I just know this isn't a book I would give my 13yo sister if she came to me asking questions.

When I grew up, sex was a forbidden topic other than, Wait until you're married." It's no wonder my older sisters got pregnant before marriage. Most of my instruction came from reading my older sister's magazines and my Mom's medical reference book. Thankfully, I was able to avoid teen pregnancy. I bought condoms and kept them in my purse so I could have them on hand when I went out with my boyfriend and I got on the pill when I was 15 or 16. I'm a huge proponent of safe sex. Knowledge is power.
