BobbiesDustyPages (1259 KP) rated True Romance (1993) in Movies

A messed up kind of love story but a love story none the less.
True Romance is one of those movies that was really sad that I didn't know about it sooner especially since I grew up on Tarantino movies. From start to finish it really is just a damn good movie with a surprisingly good love story mixed in with all the blood and drugs. There's a hell of a lot of action a really good story amazing characters and just the over-the-top violence that you come to expect from these type of movies.

Sue (5 KP) rated A Village Shattered (Logan & Cafferty, #1) in Books

While the book had a good plot and kept you guessing as to who done it, I found the chapters a bit choppy. There didn't seem to be a transition from one scene to another, which made me have to re-read sections to see if I missed a page somewhere. There were also a lot of characters to try to follow and no real introduction to them. This is the first book in the series and I am told that they get better, so I am willing to read the second in the series as the first one wasn't totally bad.

keeps me motivated
A lot of repetitive pokemon (1 more)
kills the battery on my phone quickly
This game keeps me motivated to get out of the house and get moving. It has helped me start exercising more, which is always a good thing. The only issue is how fast it kills the battery. I have to make sure my phone is fully charged before going out to play the game because if I want to listen to music while playing I won't get much of a walk in because of how fast my phone will die.

Ivana A. | Diary of Difference (1171 KP) rated The Help in Books

This is a book where coloured maids in 1963 are afraid to speak up. This is a book where they gain the courage to tell a white lady what actually happens inside their lives. No one is ready to hear the truth, everyone is scared for their future, but bravery is a strong attire to have, and the maids prove they have what it takes. Lot of courage, lots of excitement, anxiety and me biting my nails over and over again, but definitely book that's worth reading. And definitely a book that will open your eyes about what actually happened back then.

Sawyer (231 KP) rated Doctor Who (1996) in Movies

The doctor getting shot and killed immediately after walking out the TARDIS into gang territory in America is just priceless (1 more)
All the ridiculous extra rooms in the TARDIS like why does the Tardis have a giant ancient dungeon in there
It's a hell of a lot bigger on the inside
Overall the movie is very weak and does a poor job of capturing the magic of Doctor Who and why British audiences love it
But it has enough weirdness and ridiculousness that any Doctor Who fan should watch it

Jessica Erdas (463 KP) rated The Laughing Corpse (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #2) in Books
Sep 2, 2018
A real page turner. I found it hard to put down and was reading it every time I had a little break. Although, there are a lot of repeats in description, actions, and even dialogue from the first book (I grew a little tired of the repeated telling of "sweat running down her spine", or the "Anita nodded but realized so and so couldn't see and then spoke") but it was still enjoyable. I was a little disappointed that Jean-Claude didn't make as much of an appearance in this story but hoping for more in the next one.

Hey all!!
Now I have to say that I did love this book. The characters go through a lot together and the growth that you see through them is great to see as well. The only slight dislike that I had was that the pace of the book was very fast.
I feel that there needed to be a clearer line of when it was the next night. I also feel there needed to be a little bit more filler.
Other than that it was brilliant and I will be reading the next ones!!!

Lee (2222 KP) rated Searching (2018) in Movies

The search for a missing daughter unfolds before our eyes on a computer screen, pulling together clues and information from social media and messaging services. While there have been a couple of decent horror movies recently employing this method of storytelling, none of them have been as effective as this. Edge of seat, intense drama with a few twists and turns towards the end. This may have gripped me a lot more than it normally would, as I have a daughter in her early teens, just starting to build an online life of her own, but wow this movie was amazing!

Sonofdel (6291 KP) rated Killing Pablo in Books

Wonderful Insight
I was a bit curious about this book as i have watched the series Narcos on Netflix which has been created from this book. The book is much darker and contains a lot of information about Pablo Escobar that was lacking in the series. This shows his childhood and how he grew to become one of the most notorious Drug lords in the world. If you like your biographical stories then this won't let you down. A fantastic read even for those who have not seen the series.

This was a set text for a University module and I have to say, if it hadn't been for that I probably wouldn't have finished it. I found it to be much below the usual standard of Morpurgo, severely lacking in any kind of gripping factor to make people want to read on. This could just be me, but the plot was flimsy, needed much more 'background' on the Spanish Civil War and generally, something a lot more plausible than a boy who is essentially in love with the bull. Not something I would recommend or read again myself.
