Rolling Stone's 327th greatest album of all time

Great album, and my first exposure to Phair's work. It would be rather easy to compare her to PJ Harvey, and while there is a similarity, Phair is much angrier, more raw and open about her sexuality. A lot of these songs appear to be about her "making bad choices" and partly regretting it, partly enjoying it. This gives the work an honesty and really cuts through the music to engage the listener on a whole different level. The strong vocal on generally stripped down music enables this.

The creatures are mostly cool

Mostly male cast beating their chests at each other (although the majority had good chests to beat) (1 more)

Mostly mild dismay at character deaths

Beautiful caving creature feature

A group of spelunkers are brought into help scientists map a cave system.

The buff cavers and token girl caver arrive and off they go. After finding the remains of a previous caver and a mosaic showing knights vs winged monsters they head off into the cave

The next hour is a lot of swimming, climbing and mauling.

Fun monster film with lots of cool sets.

One of the most conceptually rich films that I've seen in a while that asks a lot of questions that nobody will ever be able to answer.

It's too bad that the ending brings it down from a nine to a seven.

Also, what the fuck are you people going on about this being a "vibe" film? There's a very clear narrative here that is presented in an abstract and non linear manner.

In spite of some unfinished plot points and mild over ambiguity, I loved this, and it's one of my favorites of the year.
