Brilliant animation
A greatly detailed animation film that is full of fun. You can tell when an animation film has had a lot of time, care and thought put into it. The quality of the lighting, shadows, reflections and even fur are up there with the best animations. It's bright and colourful as well to appeal to the kids. I didn't notice the strong voice cast until the credits came up including Jackie Chan, to have all of them in one film is impressive, in an animated film even more so. This is a funny film all ages should enjoy.

Well written but repetitive and boring
I heard a lot of high praise for this series but I have to admit I was quite disappointed. The lives of the two protagonists Lena and Lila just seemed so shallow and contrived based around the confines of poverty. While it started off remotely interesting, it was far too long to keep up. Their friendship is a constant battle between love and rivalry - which could have been summed up in half the time. And their constant need for male affection was rather aggravating. It has the same premise like Zadie Smith in terms of writing but that's it.

Lives up to the original and more
Aliens is the perfect example of how to do a sequel properly. Not only does it match the excellence of the first Alien film, it almost surpasses it. There are some elements of claustrophobia and suspense, but this has now been paired with lots of action, and it works really well. The casting is great and the new characters are a welcome addition, and bring a lot of humour. The Xenomorph itself is still as terrifying as before, but with a whole new 'team' dynamic thrown in. James Cameron has done a fantastic job with this one.

Excellent scene-setting and character development for the rest of the series. All in all there is far too much of the book set in attending balls or parties with the scheming and political manoeuvring inherent in some fantasy. The action scenes are excellent and you really start to develop an understanding for alomancy and how each of the metals/skills can be used.
Kelsier is an excellent protagonist and the story revolves around him ... up to a point. Vin is likeable but a lot less so.
An excellent set up for the trilogy and my first foray into the Cosmere, which I am continuing with.

I love me some raw and simple gore
I first watched this movie when I was around 10 or so and hell it messed me up in the way that I could not look away from the screen the entire time.

The thing about The Texas Chainsaw Massacre that always just made it a favorite of mine is just how raw footage it is, it doesn't have any of the flash and awe that a lot of horror movies have but the acting for me to this day is just so on point that I still find myself questioning if this shit was real or not.

I honestly don't know whether or not I actually liked this movie. The score was god awful, and the 'tension' music came at weird, non-tense times. The sex was plum bizarre and the characters did a whole lot of nothing. The beginning sequence when it's around 2 minutes of a beating heart creeped me out, and made me feel slightly ill to my stomach. Barry Keoghan (AKA the guy from 71 and Dunkirk) did well, though his American accent sounded like a mix between Ryan Gosling and Benedict Cumberbatch doing American accents. Though, as whack as it was, it kind of fit with the awkwardness of the character.

I definitely liked the fact it was different. The Lobster has been on my to-watch list since it was put on Prime.

I had to look up what the Sacred Deer thing meant. Now that I know I think it's very interesting.

I loved this book. LOVED. One of my top reads in the past couple years for sure. I received it for free after winning a Goodreads giveaway. I don't want to give anything away so I will be general in my review. The concept/plot are unique but believable. The characters were really well rounded and relatable. You are immediately sucked in to their world. This was so much better than a lot of the dystopian books that are being pumped out right now. I love that it could stand alone as well as being the first installment of a trilogy. I can't wait to read the rest of the series!

I was psyched when I read that Jo Nesbo was doing a take on Macbeth for Hogarth. After reading this, I feel a little ambivalent. Normally, I love everything he writes, but this one was extremely slow. I think that a lot of my neither here nor there feeling has to do with the original source material, rather than Nesbo's take on it.
The setting of the 1970s really worked, and I did really like the characterization of Macbeth. I was glad that it was relatively true to the original play to the end.
I received an ARC from Penguin's First to Read in exchange for an unbiased review.

The first half of this movie is a 10... once they hit the island AMAZING, then slowly downhill from there.
So I watched this movie one night, not expecting much but a show of primal force against modern technology and got exactly what i was looking for, but better than I expected. the foreboding on the island it palpable and delicious... The exotic species and fantastical creatures are appropriate and amazing. Really gets the imagination going. John C Reilly really rescues the ending in a lot of ways and makes it tolerable. Still a worthy watch.

It's fun.
If you go in to this movie thinking that it'll be a great movie you're going to be disappointed. What you need to do is to go into this movie thinking it's going to be solid four out of ten. It'll turn out that you actually ended up enjoying yourself. There were moments where I literally cringed.

That being said, I laughed during this movie. A lot. There were some great funny parts! Some really cool new sets and action scenes as well. I was also happy because I don't think that they made Han a flat character.
