ClareR (5879 KP) rated Kick-Ass (2010) in Movies

When I grow up, I want to be Hit Girl!
I really like this film, and I’ve watched it more than once! It’s very cartoonish in its delivery, and that’s just fine by me! Although that is kind of counteracted by the extreme violence and the language (I have to admit that I laughed A LOT when Hit Girl uses the ‘C’ word - I think that’s a British thing, possibly ??♀️) .
I’ve no doubt this will get watched again in my house - I have two teenaged boys who have been brought up in a house of graphic novels and superhero/ Marvel/ DC movies, so it’s a strong likelihood!

Finding humour in difficult times
This is a book that tells it like it is: the long hours, no sleep, the volume of work, the responsibility, the gory, gruesome bits, the humour, the sadness and the stress. We take for granted that the NHS and our doctors will always be there, but after reading this book, I find myself with even more respect for the doctors and nurses in our hospitals, and the care they give us even when they’re tired and stressed.
This is very funny though, and I think a lot of humour is probably used by doctors - whatever gets them through their long shifts!

Miguel Covarrubias (143 KP) rated The Gone World: A Novel in Books

I'm very much enjoying how Sweterlitsch combines Sci-Fi and mystery in very engaging thought provoking ways. I've read, watched, and consumed a lot of time travel stories. There are tons of bad ones, but this is an excellent take and surprisingly takes care of a few plot hole problems inherent in time travel stories. As someone who has been trying to write a time travel story for over 8 years, I really appreciate good stories that help to revive my passion for the genre.
I'm really excited to find out what they do with the movie adaptation, and I'm really enjoying Sweterlitsch's work. I look forward to his future projects.

Dean (6927 KP) rated Buried Alive (2008) in Movies

Compared to many Slashers I've seen lately, and that's quite a lot, this was pretty good. From the same director as the Wishmaster and starring Tobin Bell of the Saw films. It is a bit slow building up to the kills, but when they come they are quite gory and different to the norm. A bunch of uni friends head out to one of the kids big house out in the desert looked after by the creepy caretaker. The house has a dark history involving a family curse, gold and murder. Good production value and a decent cast raise this above most straight to DVD slashers.

Clash on...
I have been playing Clash for 5 years and I have watched it evolve.
It is similar to a lot of other strategy type games this is just a little more established than the others.
The most recent update introduced season challenges which gives the player a series of rewards on the completion of challenges.
You can however buy a gold pass which opens up additional rewards and discounts to upgrades and "skins" for their heroes.
The shelf life for this game is longer than most though the frequent in app purchases and offers can be frustrating

This film was a trip to the cinema worthy. Margot Robbie was on top form and a pleasure to watch her got batshit on the streets of Gotham. A pretty good romp of a film generally. Plenty of great action sequences and some good jokes. Will Smith gave a tremendous performance but felt he shouldn't have been the focus point of this film. I could have completely done without Jared Leto's Joker: completely ridiculous and over the top. I could have done with a lot more Killer Croc and Cara Delevigne's June Moon was a surprising addition she did a great job.

Vegemite Girl (284 KP) rated The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn in Books

I didn't Love this book but I certainly didn't hate it either. I understand why it got the hype it did, the writing is great, once I started the book I didn't want to put it down, it had twists and turns throughout but I just didn't find myself loving it as much as I thought and in parts I felt that it kind of drawled on a little. The story premise itself was great and the layout of the story was just right, I feel like the little breaks in Evelyn's story really helped as her story is a lot to take in!

Dan Barnes (9 KP) rated the PlayStation 4 version of Mortal Kombat 11 in Video Games

Get over here!
So in the 90s you were either in the Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat camp. Not gonna lie I was all Street Fighter.
However 20 something years on Mortal Kombat has evolved into a great game with a fantastic story.
Fast flowing easy to pick up, easy moves to master and perfect makes this a fantastic game.
Play alone the towers, storyline or krypt.
Or play local multiplayer the fun starts immediately.
Customising is a bit complex and online takes a lot of mastering but all in all I cant recommend this game enough

Movie Metropolis (309 KP) rated Titanic (1997) in Movies
Jun 10, 2019 (Updated Jun 10, 2019)
Titanic was an absolute breakthrough for director James Cameron, swooping 11 Oscars at the 1998 awards. To this day, it remains the third highest grossing film of all time, recently pushed down from second by Avengers: Endgame. Starring Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio, a lot has been said about the film’s over reliance on the central love triangle.
Watching it again over 20 years later still showcases Titanic’s incredible special effects, emotional plot and stunning cinematography and sound design. This disaster film is the biggest of all time and it’s easy to see why, despite the, at times, flabby story.

starwarsluvr (236 KP) rated The Trail of Terror: Horror at the Lake (A Vampire Tale #2) in Books
Jan 30, 2018
This one was just as good as the first even though it was a lot different from the first. Not as much humor in this one as the first but just as much amazing plots. The twists and problems that came for Susan were very interesting. I loved the fact that not everything was easy now that she was a vampire. I felt bad for her in many places because of the other vampire doing what they were doing to her, but loved that she fought back. Very good author and series. Big thank you to the author for picking me to read and review this series.
