Between Good And Evil

I love a mystery that wastes no time with setup and has me in suspense from page 1, and Between Good and Evil did just that. It took a bit to catch on to what was happening in Auburn Notch, but that’s not a bad thing. The reader is left to piece things together as the story unfolds just as the characters are, and there is a lot going on. The characters are well formed and the descriptions very detailed. This was a good first installment, and I’ll be watching for more Promise Flynn.

NOTE: I received a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Good Horror Premise
A fun idea for a new slasher premise, at least 3 sequels were made. The SFX do look a bit dated now and the gore effects, along with a lot of elements to the film do look a little low budget. With Wes Craven as exec producer and starring Robert Englund and cameos by Tony Todd and Kane Hodder adds a few nice touches for the horror fans. Andrew Divoff plays the evil Djinn very well and with a dark sense of humour. It is a bit cheesy but has a certain charm to it, one for gore fans and horror buffs will enjoy it more than most.

Two New Boards
Let's be clear about this expansion: it is just two new boards for Terraforming Mars. If you are expecting more, then you will be sorely disappointed.

The two new boards add the right amount of variety to Terraforming Mars. They do not over complicate the game, but change the strategy just enough to make it interesting.

The awards change too! The new awards are more fun than the original, and are better balanced.

If you have played a lot of Terraforming Mars, I would definitely get this expansion to further enhance your gameplay.

Not quite what I hoped
I have to start by saying Deadpool, Ryan Reynolds really does become his character. He is Deadpool there is no doubt about that, he is someone you can love and laugh at. I enjoyed this film, it did make me laugh, I probably would watch it again. But to me it didn't live up to the first one, the humour was still there but sometimes forced. A lot of action which was expected and I enjoyed being part of the X-Men universe. There isn't much bad I can say about it, just that I expected more after loving the first one so much.

I received this book through a First Reads giveaway and although I ended up somewhat liking it I had a very hard time getting into and through the book. There was a story to be told but not in the way I thought it would be presented. The book is just what it claims to be, a diary of Mrs. Robinson's accounts mixed with trial proceedings and such. There were a lot of facts, which may have been why it took me so long to get through it as I was thinking it would be more of a story, not a recounting of events. Either way it was an okay book.

Wow. Just wow. I was so worried for this being bad after so many reviews saying it was a let down but how wrong they were.

A lot of nods to other characters and story arcs as well as a string link to Star Wars Rebels (the animated series) of which I also loved.

It was good to see how the Millennium Falcon got its iconic shape and how it was won.

Oh and of course the origin of the 12 parsecs run!

Go watch it now!!

You know, there’s a lot to criticize about this interpretation of Dune, but it had such a huge impact on my young mind that it will always be a favorite.

As an avid reader, I’m often looking for movie interpretations to be faithful, more than anything else. This film adaptation really can’t be called faithful in any sense of the word, but it gave me an appreciation for artistic license that isn’t just laziness in disguise or pandering to the mindless masses of movie-goers. It’s just a great story, in its own right, even if it really only pays lip service to the source material.

Kylie and Bailey Brandt vanish from a shopping mall parking lot while their mother is buying a birthday present. Single mom Jamie quickly realizes that the overworked local police department is not the best option for finding her daughters, so she hires former bounty hunter Alice Vega, famous for finding missing people. Vega partners up with ex-cop/private investigator Max “Cap” Caplan to find the sisters. The result is a tense, twisty ride that I thoroughly enjoyed. I loved Alice Vega, she reminded me of Lisbeth Salander: tougher than battery acid, but completely awkward at personal interaction. I’m really looking forward to more books featuring her character.

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is my first Sariah Wilson novel and I'm glad that the cover caught my eye. I have always loved fairy-tales and any book that has a princess makes me want to read it. The characters in this book were really cute. I really enjoyed the chemistry between the characters and the banter was a lot of fun.

The plot line was a little predictable but I was still able to enjoy it. Ultimately, this was a good read that helped me take my mind off of my every day stresses.

One of the best B movies of all time
I first saw this film as a midnight movie (back when those were a thing) when I worked at the cinema. I would pop in occasionally to check on the crowd and I was always amazed at what I saw and how much the audience was getting into it and laughing hysterically.

This is one of those films you can't explain to someone without it sounds utterly idiotic, but is just a lot of fun with some good horror thrown in.

Trust me when I say you will love it!
