The movie is a lot to unpack. It is a love letter to international film. Madame Simone Signoret's films are screened and discussed throughout. The films serve as a guide to the various relationships within the film. No. 7 Cherry Lane deals with the 1967 student uprising and the aftereffects of the Chinese Civil War as Mrs. Lu is a Taiwanese refugee in Hong Kong. The animation is static, either the cels were shot at 48 fps or cels took up multiple frames to give a slow motion effect to all the action. The film is also comparable to Soul since both deal with life and falling leaves.

Jaws (1975)
Jaws (1975)
1975 | Thriller

"Because they did great character buildup in it. By the time they got out and were battling the shark, you knew the three characters intimately. I think we lose that in a lot of our movies today — they’re so set in throwing the action at you as quick as they can. They don’t allow the character to develop to where you can feel for the character and I think Jaws did a marvelous, fantastic job with the three characters on the boat and the action – how they held the scene with the shark for as long as they did — the shocking moments of it."

Sexual Personae: Art And Decadence From Nefreititi To Emily Dickinson

Book Favorite

"Camille Paglia is one of the most controversial feminists of all time, and also one of the most compelling. This mammoth book, put very shortly, examines the representation of sexuality in Western art. But it also goes into fierce discussion about religion, literature, art history, psychology, the brutal forces of sex and nature, and the amorality and pornography present in great art. As someone who personally writes a lot about sex work, one of my favorite lines in the book is, “The prostitute is not, as feminists claim, the victim of men, but rather their conqueror, an outlaw, who controls the sexual channels between nature and culture.”"

Hmm...

I was up until 2am finishing this

I think Alex's view of life was rather warped for the first 66% of this book. Everyone is an employee, not someone he's known for years and are really his closest friends. I guess that fame can change you but a lot of the time at the beginning, I wasn't really liking Alex so much.

He did grow on me though and by the 80% mark I was crying like a baby. Everything seemed to happen all at once then but it was Alex after rehab that had my heart melting more, especially when he saw Indigo with the baby. So cute!

It's taken me about three week to read this. Psychological thrillers aren't really my thing but every once in a while I branch out from my usual romance.

I now kinda wish I hadn't. It took me forever to find this interesting/exciting. And it seemed to repeat a lot of the same things; Rachel getting drunk, Rachel on the same train everyday, Rachel harassing her ex... I was very bored for a while. And then the ending didn't really surprise me. It was a slow realisation but once we found out who was behind it, I wasn't surprised.

Think I'll stick to my mix of romances from now on.

I actually kinda l liked this...a lot.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this. Things to do with prison put me off a bit put this was written in a way so that we only really saw how it affected our boys' relationship.

That bit when he was talking about when he got out and Xavier kissed him hard, I was all sad like, and it was obvious to me then that emotions had become involved over the year.

I'm happy our boys got together in the end and I wouldn't mind reading more of this series at some point in the future.

Team Undecided after this one.

Well it's been a good while since I read the first book in this series but I remembered quite a few bits, mainly the guys; Aiden and Seth. I was Team Aiden back then, too. Now I'm not so sure anymore. Seth grew on me a lot in this one. He's gone from womanizing egotist to someone I actually quite like. He was there for Alex when she needed him most, unlike Aiden who at the time couldn't but still...he's really grown on me.

I'm off to start book three after that ending. What's going to happen now?!

I cried so much while reading this; sometimes the silent ones, sometimes the snotty nose, blotchy faced unpretty ones. It hit me pretty hard but I loved it so much.

The story starts with a bang, one that I wasn't expecting and one that had pretty severe consequences for Ella. It's got such a serious plotline but it was pretty romantic too. I loved our main characters, mainly Cinder because he was determined to stick with Ella but Ella had a lot more to deal with and wasn't sure how to do it.

This is my second book by the author and I look forward to reading more of her work.
