Sam (74 KP) rated The Unauthorised Biography in Books

I loved this! I got so excited when I saw the thirteen questions about Lemony Snicket that were being asked, and I loved it even more when I discovered that they were being answered in the typical Snicket way – cryptic and nonsensical.
The book is made up of multiple letters, newspaper clippings and diary entries that explain everything and nothing at the same time.
It did give a few of the characters some more background which I enjoyed, and it explained the relationship between the characters a lot more than the book series does.
It never tells you the exact truth. I stared at the Snicket family tree for ages trying to work out the initials!

I had not read anything by this author and the plot seemed like something I would really enjoy. Sadly this book fell very flat for me. It was a pick up, put down, and not care if I never saw it again.
The premise, characters, and length were all perfect; the author just seemed to miss a lot of plot holes. There is also a suprisingly large amount of tropes smashed into one book.
The only real redeeming quality for me was the fact that Sara grew throughout the book. You could see her growth and feel that she was a well thought out character.
Thank you for the chance to read this egalley.

I really loved the premise of this book. Science mixed with magic and what happens when you don't exactly know the problems that could arise. The action was abundant and exciting. I mean it starts with a tornado and people dying. If that isn't throwing you right into the middle of it.
The book includes artwork that is reminiscent of comic books and give you a sense of what the characters look like in the authors mind. It helped me picture a lot of things that weren't properly shown.
The ending was enjoyable and showed that not all family is blood.
If you liked any of the other books by these authors then definitely check it out.

I received a free copy of this book after winning a goodreads contest. It was a decent book; interesting enough to keep me reading, but not enough to have me hooked and reading through the night to find out what happened next.
I am left with a lot of questions at the end. What is Kate? What's up with her blood? If it's so sacred, why did she perform a blood ritual in front of a virtual stranger in her apartment? Why did she leave said stranger in her apartment with access to her bloody clothes while she went to take a shower?
Hopefully the other books in the series will answer some of my questions.

I had watched the series and was intrigued to hear the story from Piper's POV, in her own words. There are scenes in the series taken right out of the book, word for word, but there were a lot of differences as well.
Piper is portrayed in the show as a selfish jerk. In the book, she was the complete opposite. I get that drama has to be added in order to make the show more appealing, but the story as told in the book is an interesting insight into this woman who, through stupid choices in her youth, was incarcerated and faced with the harsh realities of life in prison and the struggles of her fellow inmates.

Obsessed book reviews (49 KP) rated Tragic Love (Sulfur Heights, #2) in Books

this is a fantastic book and I think I've just gone through a lot of different emotions reading this book. the ending made me cry which rarely happens. like the first book the subjects are hard hitting but done in a sensitive way. I was hooked from page one and couldn't put the book down. this book was just as good as the first and I couldn't wait to start the third. the author writes the book from both points of view which works beautifully. all the characters and the story line are well written, each contains the right amount of details to make this a fantastic book

Ande Thomas (69 KP) rated The Greasy Strangler (2016) in Movies

Music (1 more)
Murders
If Tommy Wiseau tried to adopt David Lynch's aesthetic and Tim & Eric's humor, and failed, the result might come close to what The Greasy Strangler has to offer. Of course it's intentionally bad, but there is a lot of schlock out there that's worth watching and enjoying. The Greasy Strangler does not fall into that category.
There are a few memorable and genuinely entertaining kills early on, and had they concentrated more on that angle, we could have a true cult goldmine, but instead all we're left with are a couple of bullshit artists.
The ONLY reason this is a two star movie and not less, is the score was spot on.

Downloaded this app through a earnit app and at first I found it kind of boring but giving it a little time it is actually a lot of fun it's kind of like Monopoly except you can go to other players usually friends from your Facebook if you link your Facebook to the game and you can destroy some of their buildings still their money occupy some of their buildings. It's a real easy game to get into and once you really get the hang of it and start playing with friends it can get really addicting. I'm a huge fan of time-wasting games and this is one of the best I found

WOW... Just... WOW. This series keeps up the interest. Throws it at you in spades. :D
So This is Maddy and Ricker's story. I don't like to give anything away so this is gonna be a tough review. Hmmm. Maddy is not as strong as a lot of other females in her clan... but with the Prima's help, she's learning. I'll just say Ricker helps her out of a tight spot and leave it at that... And then they fall. Personalities clash and duel. As does their bodies. :D
Go read. Seriously. This one might just be my new favourite.
Oh - Well written, well thought out story line. Awesome Characters.
LOVED IT!!

Georgina DeBurca (2 KP) rated Sex, Wolves and Rock 'n Roll (Lyric Hounds #3) in Books

This is a slightly different style of book compared to others of this series. It's a male/male romance. And as opposed to leaping into hardcore man on man sex scenes, there is a lot of focus on the emotions. Don't get me wrong, there were romance scenes involving sex acts and they were written perfectly. But the emotions portrayed in this one kept me hooked til the end and I fell in love with the two lovers in this book.
Well written, as normal. No silly errors tripping me up. Good pace. Showed back story. Brought past characters into this story and showed more character development again.
Loved it.
5/5
Would definitely suggest to friends.
