Outstanding Story
I didn't think this was going to be my kind of movie, but I really enjoyed it. Ally and Jack's love story had all the ingredients for a classic romance. It starts off slow and cheesy then develops into something else.
The movie did a great job of showing how Jack and Ally were in different stages of there careers. Ally was just starting out while Jack had been worn down by many years in the music industry. This plays a large role in there relationship dynamics, and as Ally becomes more involved with the music industry the dynamic begins to change.
Ally was a great character who you really wanted to see achieve, and while Jack wasn't always likability he added a lot of depth into the movie.

nicolakay (2 KP) rated the PC version of Two Point Hospital in Video Games
Oct 13, 2018
I've just started playing this game. I was a big fan of Theme Hospital back in the day and was worried that Two Point Hospital wouldn't live up to the original. But it has not disappointed. Lots of similar features but with many improvements. There are a lot more amusing illnesses (being a Grey's anatomy fan, I particularly liked the addition of 'grey anatomy') and options for research and marketing. It's much easier in this version to see how close you are to completing a level as it's on the screen the whole time. If you enjoyed Theme Hospital I would really recommend playing this game.

The nostalgia hits hard here so prepare to cry....a lot! (2 more)
The original voice of Tigger and Pooh comes back to play them in this movie which is a plus
Ewan mgregor is exceptional here...Obi Wan's still got it
It's super slow until you see pooh (1 more)
If you have seen the Robin Williams classic Hook, you'll probably predict the plot of this movie
Christopher Robin is a great Disney film
Contains spoilers, click to show
This movie is a tear-jerker but it's also a love letter for long time Pooh fans but it is slow movie and a predictable plot too but it doesn't hurt the movie also minor spoilers but in the true spirit of Pooh there are songs in this movie including one by Richard Sherman a Disney song writer staple
ClareR (5726 KP) rated The Affacombe Affair (Pollard and Toyne #2) in Books

A great, old-fashioned, cosy mystery!
I have really enjoyed the first two books in this republished series - I honestly didn’t expect to. It’s such a nice, comfortable read though. The storyline nicely plays out (well, as nicely as a murder can!), the characters are all very likeable (especially Pollard and Toyne), and the way they go about their investigations is really rather interesting. This is not a story set in modern time - it’s set in the 1960s, so before DNA testing and all of the technology that we have today. So the story hangs on old fashioned humans using their brains and experience to work it out. I like these stories a lot, and I’m very glad that Sapere books sent me a copy to read and honestly review!
Naomi Forrest (42 KP) rated 221B Baker Street: The Master Detective Game in Tabletop Games
Jan 1, 2019
My favourite board game
Bought this for my hubby at Xmas, it looked intriguing. Think cluedo but each game has a different case to be solved. You have to visit different places such as the bank, the chemist, etc and discover clues about the case that is taking place. The first one to solve the case and get back to Baker Street is the winner, provided they have the correct solutions.
It is a lot more challenging than cluedo and you need to be strategic about where you are going to visit first. I love that it requires so much thought. This game has 75 cases but there is an expansion pack with 50 more cases available.

Griffin (480 KP) rated Super Fight in Tabletop Games

An excessive amount of cards in the base game which allows for a great amount of replayability. (2 more)
Allowing players to debate about how their character would win the fight is a fun and unique mechanic that works out verl well.
Adding a random attribute card onto each character makes for some hilarious and surprisingly interesting combinations.
While there are a lot of cards in the base set after you begin to loop through the cards they do get old as they lose that initial shock factor. Buying the expansions will prolong this. (1 more)
Players tend to talk over each other while "debating" and end up shouting at each other for 5 minutes. (can be fun at times, but when it keeps happening it gets irritating)
A great way to settle arguments.
Funny memes (1 more)
Keeping in touch with family and friends
Far too many adverts (1 more)
A lot of shit on there
Good waste of time
Facebook is a part of life these days, I've been on there for about 10 years and checking Facebook has become a must multiple times a day for me (more habit than anything else).
However it is such a waste of time. There are far too many ads and rubbish posted.
The powers that be on there are either overzealous or disinterested.
It's also a great way of making yourself miserable by comparing your life to others (which is often massaged to look better than reality)
I don't think I could leave Facebook but sometimes I kinda wish I'd not joined in the first place.

David McK (3425 KP) rated Hal Spacejock 2: Second Course in Books

Earlier this year, I picked up a novel (re)named '[b:Hal Spacejock 1: A robot named Clunk|12381591|Hal Spacejock 1 A robot named Clunk|Simon Haynes|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1524681176s/12381591.jpg|1083521].
I enjoyed it, but thought it was nothing special.
Recently, I saw an advert on Facebook (I think), for the first three of the Hal Spacejock (yes, that's the real name of one of the characters!) novels and a bonus short story for 99pence. As I'd been reading a lot of heavier fare recently, and as it was only 99p, I thought I would pick it up.
And, I have to say, I enjoyed this one (the second in that collection) more than I remember enjoying the first, complete with a few actually laughed-out-loud moments!

Sam (228 KP) rated Titans - Season 1 in TV

Well Developed Characters (4 more)
Captivating Plot
Wonderful Backstories
Gorgeous Soundtrack
Surprisingly Dark
Everything I Could Hope For
As someone who grew up watching the beloved cartoon, Teen Titans, as well as an avid reader of the comic series, Titans and Teen Titans, a lot was riding against this TV show. However, I was truly surprised by how much I loved this series from the first episode. I've always adored the DC universe for their dark plotlines and backstories they give to the characters. I was thankful to see that they carried this same darkness into this television show. This paired with the talented way they showed the growth of the characters throughout the season was all done beautifully. I could not have possibly asked for more and look forward to the second season!
Emma @ The Movies (1786 KP) rated The Front Runner (2018) in Movies
Jun 22, 2019 (Updated Sep 25, 2019)
The Front Runner is a tricky one to sum up. We've got some excellent acting talent giving solid performances but *shrugs shoulders* it's just another average story. Perhaps it holds more weight with an American audience.
Much like Colette this one felt very long, but that feeling hit much earlier into the screening. I wasn't bored, but there was a lot of this film. I'm not even sure that taking anything out would improve my feelings about it.
I could honestly finish my review there, I made no notes at all. There was nothing that made this film stand out above anything else in this genre. It's a well made film about an average story, and that's its problem.
What you should do
It's a good film but it can definitely wait until it's streaming.
