Movie Favorite

"I do like… I’m a big Preston Sturges fan. I like all of them, but I especially like, probably Palm Beach Story, and Miracle at Morgan’s Creek is one of my favorites. I happen to love it. I think it’s maybe one of my favorite… 20 movies, ’cause there’s so many great things."

Book Favorite

"My favorite of Flann O’Brien’s novels, although I love At-Swim-Two-Birds. Profound, haunting, mystical and utterly hilarious. The bizarre narrative is accompanied by an eccentric parallel saga about something obscure called The De Selby Codex, a red herring that gradually grows in quantity until it all but obscures the main story."

A sweet book, and a nice little love story placed in a situation that isn't often found in novels. Drori has a good eye for finding a unique twist to the usual "boy meets girl" plot. You can read my full review here https://tcl-bookreviews.com/2014/11/28/abandonment-and-devotion/

I enjoyed Archers Voice. I admit it felt a little sluggish and, I don't know, amateur-ish, maybe. The writing just felt all wrong. That being said, I did love the story and characters. Archer is like no one I've ever met before and it was refreshing to read something a little different.

Title: Divergent

Author: Veronica Roth

Read Dates: May 21 - May 25th

Why did I choose to read this book?
I chose to read this book because I saw the movie back in Highschool and loved it and made me want to read the book as well after I learned it was orginally a book.

Did I like it? I loved the book.

Five things I liked about this book:
1. I love the dystopian part of the story and how they try to improve the society by dividing into fractions of like minded people.
2. I love the story between Tris and Four. I love how it's not like normal people and not too gushy. I loved how they helped each other through each others fears.
3. I love how Tris chose the fraction best for her rather than what others wanted her to choose. But, I also love how she'll sacrifice herself for the people she loves.
4. I love how her mom ended up being divergent as well.
5. I love how she can't be controlled and a robot like the others.

One character I disliked: Peter

Do I recommend this book? Yes

What is one similar book I think you'd like if you also love this book? Hunger Games

Questions for you:
1. Have you read this book and what similar book would you recommend to it?
2. What Fraction do you think you'd belong to?
3. Do you like the way I did review or the way I usually do reviews better?

This was seriously amazing. I love demons and loved how they were a part of Tenna's life even though she never chose it. Tenna is an amazing character.. Her love, her life, her wanting to be an outcast because the other hunters didn't want her. I loved her "uncle and aunt". I felt so bad for them.. and yet not bad for them at the same time. This was a very fast paced story that kept me interested and I loved the writing so much. Tenna was wonderful. She had her own problems and had her own wants and love and wishes. I love that Tenna was a strong, confident hero who still had her own inner demons and inner problems that made her more human and not just superhero. This story and the writing made me very happy and kept me on the edge of my seat wanting to see where it was going and what would happen next. I cannot wait to see the next book and what happens in it.

Julianne has been betrayed by the person she loved. She was in the dark that her husband Clay was no longer happy in the marriage and is blindsided to come home to a completely empty home. Because of her Catholic upbringing, she is in no hurry to divorce but after encountering the woman Clay left her for, she realizes she has no choice.

Jokob has lost the love of his life to cancer. He doesn’t know how to go on without her, so he spends his time immersed in his work as a photographer.

Julianne and Jokob meet at an exhibit of his photography and begin a friendship that starts to turn into much more.

The Art of Healing is a story of two individuals that have found love, encountered loss, and been dealt with great hardship. It is more than a love story or romance novel, but instead a look into the lives of Julianne and Jokob and how they work at healing deep wounds. Can they find love again?
