Can two broken paths lead toward Gods redemption?
When Ashley Showalter and Ben Henning meet on Ashleys horse rescue farm, they quickly discover how much they have in common. Both were raised by single moms. Both want to help where they see a need. And both work with horses in the Boise valley. Ben needs Ashleys help and expertise after starting an equine therapy barn on his great-great-grandfathers farmand the more time they spend together, both Ashley and Ben have the feeling that there could be something more between them.
They also carry the burden of past experiences that may drive them apart if the truth is ever revealed. Ben is a recovering alcoholic with five years of sobriety behind him, while Ashleys brother is an opioid addict residing in court-ordered rehab. Holding fast to the belief that addicts can never be cured, Ashley has promised herself she will never walk knowingly into the chaos created by addiction. Ben knows that with God, all things are possiblebut will Ashley find it within herself to give love a chance? Or will her brothers mistakes and the pain of her past jeopardize her future with Ben?
Cross My Heart threads together a contemporary love story with the heartwarming tale of Bens great-great-grandfather, Andrew Henningreminding us that Gods Word is timeless and that His promises are new every morning.
My Thoughts: This is such a wonderful story. The readers will love the story of Ben's family history and the wonderful woman Sashley who is all about rescuing horses. This is a story of healing, it's also about rescuing or saving those who are in a bad situation whether they be human or equine. God loves us so much that He sent His son to die on the cross for us. We are to love as He loves us and I do believe that is shown in this story. The way Andrew Henning took in 3 children to love on them as his own. It's about Ben's recovery and the forgiveness of his friend.
This story will win the hearts of its readers, I truly enjoy horses and the equine therapy is a wonderful idea for those who are hurting in any sort of way.
I look forward to more from Robin Lee Hatcher.

Have you ever read a book that completely captivates you? A book written in such a way that you feel like you are an integral part of the story line? This book did this for me and I LOVED reading it!! This story is full of friendships, love and overwhelming obstacles. I swear that I could feel the emotions that the characters felt and I laughed and cried throughout this story.
This author put her heart into this book and it shows in her writing. This witty and at times heartbreaking read will delight all of your senses and it teaches us the importance of perseverance. This book deserves, no, it has earned more than the five stars I can give it.

A devastating look at the cost of motherhood
You know how Requiem for a Dream was one of the best films you’ll never watch again because it’s just too rough on the soul? This is another in that great tradition.
A story of family, a story of the cost of status and ever-rising costs-of-surviving in an ever growing technological age, and of self-sacrifice and the pitfalls of deep motherly love, this film will grip and rip your heart for the entirety of the run.
It’s all too real. It’s all too near. And you’ll recommend it to friends again and again.

Enchanting and delightful
This book captivated me from page 1.
Scarlett Thomas pulls you into a world where books are more words on pages.
This may seem like a children’s book but it’s far more than that.
This is a book that could easily compete with the Harry Potters of the world.
I’ve just discovered the best part of the story is out now so I’m about to sit down and get lost in this story again before venturing into the world for a brand new adventure.
If you are looking for a story that the whole family could enjoy then look no further.
Do yourself a favour and grow to love her before everyone else does.

Charlotte (184 KP) rated The Garden Gnome (Theory of Magic #1) in Books
Mar 23, 2023
A magical story.
The Garden Gnome is a beautifully story. I love the way that the lives of so many are interwoven and work well together. The blend of past and present, magic and science is perfect. There's enough of everything to keep everyone intrigued and reading but without being bombarded with too much if the things you wouldn't normally be into. The descriptive balance is also good, enough to build a picture but still plenty of room for your imagination to play with the carefully chosen words of Jeff McIntyre.
I'm pretty sure Jeff has some magical powers which he's used to created a cleverly refreshing story.
You'll definitely needs snacks for this one as you won't be wanting to put this down!

Merissa (12914 KP) rated The Pumpkin Man in Books
Jun 8, 2023
This is a short but steamy coffee break book that tells the story of Gemma, the witch. She doesn't have much of a social life (being a witch) so every year she bespells a pumpkin man to do all the chores she hates. As a perk to herself, she also asks him to make love to her each year. However, one year a wolf shows up and the tale takes on a new twist.
Although this is only a short story, it covers a year of time. Well-written and with enough of a story to make it enjoyable, this has humour, passion and loneliness. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Merissa (12914 KP) rated Death & Maia in Books
Jun 13, 2025
DEATH & MAIA is a standalone story about a young woman beating a plague and trying to survive the best way she can. There are fantasy and historical elements to this story.
While I enjoyed the story, the writing style wasn't for me. There were parts that just didn't make any sense, and to be fair, I wasn't in a state of mind where I could dive deeper.
Some people will love this book, but it wasn't for me. Sorry!
** Same worded review will appear elsewhere. **
* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book; the comments here are my honest opinion. *
