Four Stars
This book was written really well. The author gave details and meanings to things we wouldn’t know. Cate is a promising therapist but she can’t seem to get over the death of her mother and her new found empathy. I didn’t really understand her character. She wanted help but was the road block that kept getting in the helps way. The story starts off really slow for me. There isn’t much build up or suspense. Cate's character felt lacking. Ben seem out of place in the story. Like he was the leader but not really the leader. I didn’t really understand the story concept. The flow of the story was really good it was very consistent. I give it four stars because it might not be a book I overly enjoyed someone else might love it. The characters were simple. I know I will read book two just because I want to know what happens next.

Honestly thought I would DNF this book in the beginning - but about 1/4-1/2 way through it really picked up the pace - I loved Di and his story, I didn't care for Ana and the story between Jax and Robb was amazing - I think i'd be down for a story of Jax and his life before he got where he was. And I'd really love a story about Di - but I don't think I'll continue the series after this. I really have words for Erik - I had words for some of the others too but he really got in my head. I must have misread some part of the book because I thought something horrible had happened and I wanted to throw the book a little, but alas - I kind of want to know about the end - like, did she really have what she says she does - it doesn't make sense to me - hmmmm - questions

Gut Wrenching
Review I just finished this book and I'm not even sure what to think. This review might just be a spew of words on a page because right now, I'm processing.
I got this audiobook from Audible through their audible originals program. I probably would have never in my life picked this up if it weren't for getting it for free. This book started off with a cute story about the main characters meeting and ends with a horrific gut wrenching ending. This is not a cute love story. This is not uplifting. It is heart wrenching but it is so beautifully done that I wasn't able to put it down.
The narrator truly put on a wonderful performance. She had a way to force you into the story & make you feel like this was a friend telling you the story.
All in all, it was good. Heart wrenching but good.

Great start to this new series by Jody Hedlund!
I’ll be honest. I am a sucker for a good western story. Probably something to do with my love of that era, and Jody Hedlund brought it to life in the most adventurous of ways, through a marriage of convenience story! I liked Greta from the first page until the end, watching her grow through the story was touching. Wyatt was deep. I loved his nature and his thought process he had good insight, and a good sense of humor at times. Overall, the story is just what I needed to sit back, relax, and know that I was in for a good ride. Plus, have I mentioned the GORGEOUS cover? It is even better in person. I am really looking forward to where Jody Hedlund will take this series next.
*I volunteered to read this book in return for my honest feedback. The thoughts and opinions expressed within are my own.

Jen Gilroy is a highly talented author! I really enjoyed getting to know her characters through this fun summer time read. It was captivating, moving, and the characters made a home in my heart for good!
This first book in Ms. Gilroy's Firefly Lake series is a wonderful one. This story is one of hope, longing, forgiveness and second chance at love. The emotions of Charlie and Sean can be felt as if they are the reader's own. I love when a book can do that! Each character brought something new to the story, each page turn, capturing me just a little more!
If you love a book filled with amazing characters and a plot that will sweep you away, then this is the book for you. However, I can't give this a full on 4 or 5 star review like I wish to. There is some language(not through the entire book but more than once or twice) and a few scenes that you don't find in a clean read, but the over all story itself, with the wonderfully portrayed characters and the messages of hope and forgiveness can pull the reader in despite the issues, leaving me with recommending this as a 3.5 star read.
Book 2, Summer On Firefly Lake, releases in July and I love the cover just as much!! Despite the lower rating that book 1 had, I may give book 2 a try to see where the next story goes. Overall, Ms. Gilroy is definitely a talented author. This review was originally posted on Cafinated Reads

Feb 27, 2019
I absolutely love Maggie Brendan and her books. She creates wonderful stories filled with beautiful characters, lots of quirks, and a plot line that will pull you in instantly. Trusting Grace is the third book in this series, but the first one that I have read. I'm so glad that I did!
Grace, Robert and the children were all wonderful characters. They came to life instantly, pulling me in, capturing my heart. The interaction between Grace and Robert and Grace and the children left me smiling. The sparks that fly between Grace and Robert are endearing and I loved watching Robert come to terms with the way he feels about Grace.
This is a story of anger, love, letting go and moving on. A story of learning to trust again. God works His way into the story line, leaving the reader with messages of hope and faith in the end.
If you love a story that will not only warm your heart, but is filled with captivating characters, history, and hope, then look no further than this beautifully woven novel. This is worth 4 star praises and recommendations to all Christian fiction lovers. Ms. Brendan will leave you wanting more! I can't wait to go back and read the first two books in this lovely series.
Tell me, would you give love another shot and trust again, after being hurt? Leave a comment below for your chance to win a copy of one of Maggie Brendan's Virtues And Vices Of the Old West novels!
