Alison Pink (7 KP) rated The Grief of Others in Books
Jan 15, 2018
This book tracks a family in & out of several years in their lives. It follows John, Ricky, Paul, Biscuit & Jess. It tells their stories & allows you a glimpse into their innermost thoughts. I find it hard to describe this book because nothing really happens, yet everything happens...loss, betrayl, grief, love. The ending fit with this theme of everything & nothing. It was not a typical satisfying ending & lacked closure. Yet was the perfect ending to the Ryrie's story at the same time.

Chris Hooker (419 KP) rated Where Loyalties Lie(MidKnight Blue Series #3) in Books

I love the way Hancock writes and how well developed her characters are but this installment in the MidKnight Blue series seemed to lack the usual drive. All the amazing characters were there and I understand they are in flux. Just this book seemed more like an interlude than a truely developed story. Doesn't make it a bad book by any means just the plot was not as well driven as Hancock's other books although the chracters were still amazing.

I really like this film. It's based off of a graphic novel, that I honestly hated. So, this is one of those situations where the movie surpasses the book. The story created for the film was much better.
The action is shot well, and it was very of the times back in 2008. The visual effects for all of the shooting was really cool looking.
I love James McAvoy, but his American accent was whack in the first action scene with Angelina Jolie.

Erika (17789 KP) rated Jane Eyre (2011) in Movies

This film made me actually like Jane Eyre. Basically, the book Jane Eyre is the bane of my existence, and I've done numerous boring reports on it. BUT, I figured I'd give this adaptation a try, since I love both Michael Fassbender and Mia Wasikowska.
The film was actually engaging and interesting, and I can watch it over and over again. I feel as though it's a good adaptation, and, if it got me to actually like the story, it did it's job.

Beautiful Imagery (2 more)
Gorgeous Storyline
Adorable Characters
A Different Kind of Love Story
Just like Pan's Labrynth this is a gorgeous fairytale with a whole new twist. I enjoyed the magical layers and depth that went into this film. Although I know many found it slow in comparison to Pan's Labrynth, however this film was not meant to be an extension of his previous masterpiece, rather it's meant to be a masterpiece all on its own. Personally, I believe it's accomplished just this.

Creepy but cute and oh so Gaiman
I just always love Gaiman's children's books because even though they are meant for kids adults can also easily enjoy them and I really think it's because he does not simplify the stories.
I really wish I would have been able to read The Wolves In The Walls when I was a kid because I know I would have just loved it! The story is weird and cute but also creepy with very unique art.

Dean (6927 KP) rated Honest (2000) in Movies
Apr 28, 2019 (Updated Apr 29, 2019)
A pretty decent black comedy/love story with a good amount of humour. Set in the swinging 60's in East London. The girls from the band All Saints star in this along side a good array of English acting talent. The girls look to rob places up town to get a better way of life for their family but get mixed up in all sorts of trouble way above their heads. An enjoyable film catch it if it's on.
